Siggels Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) G'day Chaps, Announcing Siggels' Ultimate IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad Set-up. Download from my website at www.britishfortress.com . Stand easy. That is all. Cheers, Siggels. Edited March 11, 2015 by Siggels
Siggels Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Wow Siggels, you're amazing how you developed an alternative keyboard map. Just can't wait to try it out! And it's compatible with your other amazing keyboard maps for IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 and Cliffs of Dover! I can't believe it. A unified flight sim keyboard map. Unbelievable, and you tell me you're gunna do DCS World next, when you get the time. Those stakeholding developers should love you, because the thousands of consumers that buy these flight sims can now have a human user interface that they don't have to spend weeks on to get some use out of their purchase, or instead, giving up in disgust, which happens often. I reckon those stakeholding devs will reward you for this, with a generous donation, because you have saved their reputations and their businesses because the consumer can now migrate between three flight sims now without having to re-learn or un-learn key commands. And the consumer can take use his favourite throttle and joystick, but if he happens to use Saitek X52 PRO HOTAS throttle and Joystick, you also have a compatible HOTAS table for that too. Just amazing! Just check out his sticky at www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&t=14381

I'm also a bit suspicious because your name is very close to "Siggi"...and we don't wanna go down that route again. Forget it. I've just pulled it off the net. Have your second rate default keyboard map. [Edited] Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat Response to uncalled for text edited
Siggels Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Nay, more like third or fourth rate. No wonder they haven't produced a printable keyboard map yet. For those fair dinkum blokes out there who would like to have this alternative keyboard map, I'll email to you. My email address is on my website. [Edited] Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat
Siipiorava Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Er....what an extraordinary website! [Edited] Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat Totally uncalled for...
DD_Arthur Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) [Edited] Not too sure if thats fair on [Edited]. I don't really take too much notice of what he posts but I'm pretty sure [Edited] does not go in for racism, xenophobia and religious bigotry! Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat
Siipiorava Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) I'm pretty sure [Edited] does not go in for racism, xenophobia and religious bigotry! You're right on that one, that was bit of an overstatement on my side. However this has me wondering if there are more people like this in the flightsim community. Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat
Siggels Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) I'll take these comments as a compliment, gentlemen. But I reject the racism, xenophobia and religious bigotry tags as laughable! I reflect the attitudes of the Diggers who fought and died in WWII and would roll over in their graves if they knew what has transpired since the war's end. I won't be cowered by political correctness. Never heard that silly term till a few years ago and have hated it ever since. Edited March 12, 2015 by Siggels

Siggels Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) [Edited] More Australian, Mate! Had a quick look at [Edited]. I'm glad you tolerate his ideas. That's freedom. Maybe you can tolerate me as well? I certainly tolerate you. Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat
DD_Arthur Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I reflect the attitudes of the Diggers who fought and died in WWII You do? That's quite a bold claim. The evidence of your website would suggest you reflect the attitudes of eccentric, retired diesel-fitters with chronic back problems, Alopecia and a bee in their bonnet concerning Catholics, Muslims, the UN, the "Nazi papist EU", the Chinese and "Asians" generally. 1

Yes I do. They all fought against Hitler's stated goal of a New World Order. BTW, the ethnic origins of my family members include Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Papuan New Guinean and Australian Aborigine. My best friends include Roman Catholics, Moslems, Pagans and Atheists. As a matter of fact, I've spent a lot of time with Catholic Workers. I don't think you read my website carefully. You would have noticed I was always qualified my statements with how I love the Roman Catholic people. The statements about the Chinese is only in regard to their economic acumen. And your statement about Alopecia, which is hair loss, give me break. Half the male population suffer from that at least. Thanks for the welcome, I feel like the new boy at school who is tipped upside-down and has his head flushed in the toilet. Luckily this didn't happen to me at school because the toilets were the old-fashioned out-houses. And I would have thrashed any [Edited] silly enough to try it. Cheers, Siggels. Siggels Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 For those who would like a copy of my keyboard map, etc., pm me and I'll send you a link to my Box account where the zip file is stored.
Siggels Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Since when does criticism of political systems qualify as bigotry. Last I heard the Vatican is a polical system. And one more comment, in my website I mentioned the business acumen of the Chinese. I was quoting from a New South Wales parlimentary debate in the late 1800's when the issue was the White Australia Policy. There was also lot of racism against the Chinese at the time and that's history but not my personal position. So keep it coming, I don't mind a bit. Edited March 13, 2015 by Siggels
Siggels Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) BTW, the ethnic origins of my family members include Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Papuan New Guinean and Australian Aborigine. Oh, I forgot one more: Torres Strait Islander. Besides English, Prussian and Irish. Come to think of it, my family must be one the most ethnically diverse families in Australia! Siggels Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 What is this thread about?....... Good question, it was about some files I offered until somebody said they were useless. So I pulled them of the internet. PM me and I'll send you the link to the work I've done that adds up to weeks of labour.
Siggels Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 What is this thread about?....... It was not intended by me to be about toilet dunking. That was the 'Welcoming Comittee's' idea. But I'm having a ball anyways. So I pulled the files off the internet, as I don't want to foist upon the community something that may be 'useless' although I find it invaluable. So you have to ask me personally if you want the files. Do that by personal message. Because nobody will ever ask, you'll never know if it they would be useful to you. I can live with that. Without swearing and using four letter words I'm telling you all to .

SYN_Jedders Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 So it's about offering files that aren't being offered anymore?.... 1
Siggels Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 So it's about offering files that aren't being offered anymore?.... Jedders, I don't know which planet you come from, but I said IF YOU WANT THE FILES PM ME WITH A REQUEST.
Sokol1 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Using the template on the page I make my own layout: Used the principle of grouping similar functions in adjacent keys and avoid as possible the use of modifiers (Alt, Ctrl, Shift...) - unless for safety*. E.g. Lights: J, K, L; Gunner: R, T, Y: Dive brakes/Siren: same key (D) Flaps (the classic '46) F, V; Bombsight (N) is close to full map (M) key making easy alternate between the two in level bombing. The access to the useless "GPS screen (micro/mini-maps) was erased. *Landing gear and engine start receive a "safety cover" (Alt+) to avoid accidents. Same for F10. Edited March 14, 2015 by Sokol1
Siggels Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 Thanks Sokol1 for entering into some genuine conversation here about keyboard layouts. You have done some good thinking here regarding different uses of the keyboard. I noticed you have 'Hat Mode', I haven't found that command in the settings screen. For some reason I can't get those hat views to work on my computer. I've been using the Dvorak keyboard since 1990 and I don't need the labels on top. In my reading of this topic, I found that people who are happy with their original keyboard layout don't see the need for change. In fact they usually resist it with great emotional stress. That's the same with flight sim keyboard layouts. And the result you see in the above posts. But maybe the new users will have not been so entrenched into the default keyboard layout yet, to give mine a go. All that needs to be done is SEND ME A PM WITH A REQUEST FOR THE ZIPPED FILES. Nobody has taken up that offer yet. I can't foist it upon the community as someone has said it is useless, so you have to make a request individually through pm. I am thinking about withdrawing the offer entirely as the interest is only in toilet dunking and silly comments like 'oh, he has serious issues', etc., and not about the work I've done. One bloke kept asking 'so it's about files that are offered and then not offered', yet when I explained how he can get the files, to date no pm request has been received. I was a union shop steward and I don't take rubbish from people. If you want the files pm me.
SYN_Jedders Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I didn't "keep asking" I asked a genuine question...once. You said you had "pulled the files off the Internet" so we must assume they are not available for download. This thread is just...odd
Siggels Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 You people are not interested in BoS, just this silly banter. I withdraw my offer forthwith. No more correspondance with be entered into.
Leaf Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) For heaven's sake, please lock this. [Edited] Edited March 15, 2015 by Bearcat Totally uncalled for..
Bearcat Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Locking... since the files have been pulled and the thread has gone south.. My suggestion to anyone doing something like this.. posting something for the community... If you are doing something for the community don't get your shorts in a knot if folks don't fall over praising you for it within 24 hours. If you are doing it to serve the community then do it and let it fly.. If you want to get a bunch of accolades .. this might not be the place.. To the recipients of such "contributions" ... If you don't want to use it then don't.. if you have an honest critique of it after trying it then by all means make it's creator aware of it.. but there really is no need to look a gift horse in the mouth or comment on it other than whether or not you like it. By the way.. interesting site you got there Siggles... a bit eccentric IMO.. but it is your site so..
