Heliocon Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Since the last patch none of my flight records will play, this is very annoying because I was halfway through making a promo video with them! The errors I get are either: For older replays (a few months) game loads replay, and I see the initial screen then a popup occurs in a window with a heading saying "can't load object" (and game freezes). Or: #1000 Unkown error occurred during flight recording process. I have had this problem with replays before and I deleted them, but this is affecting ALL my flight records now... anyone have any suggestions or is it just me? 1
Chef-Jitsu Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I am having the same issue. It completely freezes if it loads at all.
TG-55Panthercules Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 We've seen this happen several times in RoF - new patch/updates sometimes render old tracks unworkable. If you have old tracks you really want to make sure you can continue to use, you should keep a separate, offline-only copy of the game version those tracks were created with, so it will be insulated from the effects of any future patch/updates and you'll always be able to play your old tracks. Just be sure that you NEVER START YOUR BACKUP, OFFLINE-ONLY COPY USING THE BoS UPDATER (always start it with the IL-2.exe file), and NEVER LOG-IN ONLINE WITH YOUR BACKUP, OFFLINE-ONLY COPY. If you do, it will probably notice that a new update is ready and refuse to let you play that copy any more until you update it. I haven't cared enough about any of the versions of BoS so far to bother trying this with BoS, so the above advice is based on some hard experience with RoF. I can't say for sure that BoS will work this way, but assuming they've probably got BoS set up the same way as RoF as far as its updating routines go it's probably worth a try if you want to preserve your ability to continue using old tracks. 1
Chef-Jitsu Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 TG-55Panthercules Thanks I thought that may be an issue. I am rather new to the whole PC thing so I never thought about separating them into a private file. I love RoF too along with CoD but I am really new to flight sims. I think the community is probably the most accepting and helpful I have ever come across and you exemplify that. I will try this and see how it goes. Thank you again.
Heliocon Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 How do we make a backup copy of the game if it is running through Steam?
