What happened to the Eagle’s Nest?! SO GLAD YOU ASKED!

Alright, children… gather round… it’s story time…

Once, long ago, there was a place that kicked so much ass that congress spent 18 days with no break to determine if a warning label should be put on it, because people’s faces were getting rocked off.

It was the resting place of apex avian predator-kind.  It was The Eagle’s Nest.

The missions there were exquisite… no longer was it just air-quake, with hopeful Yaks and LaGGs looking up to the heavens… eyes filled with wonder at the contrails above, wondering what it would be like to take that express elevator to the top floor.  No, kids… now you could fly any plane in the set and have an impact on the overall campaign.  It took some team-work, and sometimes the other guys had better team-work, but in the end a joyous time was had by all.  Now it was the contrailers doing the wistful gazing… as their Panzer IVs burned, and command messages continued to shriek for assistance.  They glanced around… 10km… clear skies… still no B-17s in sight… perhaps it was time to come downstairs… and come down they did… and battle was joined over and under and inside the clouds… white knuckle Yaks harried HE-111 pilots that did all they could to bring their damaged beasts to the ground with much needed supplies as FW-190s attempted to stem the tide of IL-2s wreaking havoc upon the beleaguered XIV Panzer Corps.

The player base was excellent, salutes and calls of “good fight!” were the order of the day.  Questions were asked, and answers were given.  Tips and advice were exchanged, and the team numbers fluctuated but always balanced out on their own.

Then, one day, The Eagle’s Nest disappeared.  Some say it was simply a matter of time… the laws of nature were being broken.  Too much of a good thing in one place.  Others said that it kicked so much ass that it ripped a hole in the fabric of reality and was sucked into another dimension.

The skies darkened and the sun was hidden away from our sight. We entered a dark time then, like so many children, lost and alone in the darkness of a post-apocalyptic wasteland… watching… waiting… It’s Pox-Eclipse, full of pain!  And out of it were birthed crackling dust and fearsome time.

Some became despondent and gave up hope.

It were full-on winter… and Mr. Dead chasing them all.

But one he couldn’t catch.  That were Captain ABM.

And ABM and his friend Mr. Hooves had kept the knowing of the things from time gone by, and they found a new place, fresh made by TWB… and struck an accord with Pand and Dillon, and the clouds broke and the darkness parted!

And Paxfounder, the keeper of the tell, recorded those times for all to see and to remember:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdszsbpnOiw

Word spread like fire, and those what once flew began to return home and with them they brought ones who had never seen, but had heard the tell of it.

And they found what they were looking for at a place called http://www.thewetbandits.org/

And they could TeamSpeak to those what were flying at ts3.thewetbandits.org because all were welcome.

There were even an oracle what would tell them who was speakin and who was hearin: http://www.thewetbandits.org/twb/?page_id=82

And everyone could go and see what was happening again, as changes to the missions were made: http://www.thewetbandits.org/twb/?page_id=2

So there it is, that’s the story of The Eagle’s Nest, with a happy ending.  But not happy for all. They say there are some still out there… walkin the dark road, can’t hardly see where to put their feet next.  You see someone like that, you tell em the Eagle’s Nest is back, you hear me?

You tell em they can come home again.

Your server is super duper, your website, is also, super duper too.

The only thing cooler, is the call sign "Eighty-H-D", now that, is superlative!

Thanks for your efforts in our little hobby, one and all.

Salute and Good hunting!

For those following along at home, who have perhaps seen some odd behavior with messages in-game or the AI itself, a great many things are being implemented and tested right now.

AbortedMan is hard at work on this, and you can see his progress (as well as comment/give feedback on it) at http://www.thewetbandits.org/twb/?page_id=2

Thanks again, and thanks for making the server awesome all ya'll!

Goes to show a lot of people are out there that want to play but won't unless a server is populated. Glad y'all are trending toward getting more people on and playing together.

yea... but that's like saying... i do not MP because he, and he, and she and that girl over there, and that group over in canada, and the Yuropeans... and the Aussies... (...) do not MP either.

only if THEY MP, i ... might... possibly... potentially... join... one day. for a short session.

That is not a good way to populate the servers...?

Great server.

I had a decent solo flight last night and laid some heavy cannon fire in to an IL2 flown by a TWB guy. Pretty sure if the mission hadn't ended when it did that another one of you were just about to shoot me down.

Looks awesome!  Especially the one right before Otavio decided that I don't need my left horizontal stab and promptly relieved me of it.

Thanks OT!
