Hello, i just bought bos and i see the love the developers have put into this :)

i like it but please bring some custom gfx options,my system is i5 4670 with 660gtx 2gb,8gb ram and i run it on low to have vsync working right ,

at least an option to toggle visibility and texture quality,

i want to enjoy the game more and my system isnt so bad , it can handle low settings with high textures and visibility on high running 60fps ,(if you cant do that please open again the edits on gpresets.cfg) , thank you!

Before this thread explodes let me just say: You're not the only one requesting the presets being removed or at least be posible to work around. Apparently the reasoning behind the presets is, that some of the graphics settings might be exploited in MP.

Still, I'm with you. I really think the forced presets are wrong on principle.

Really, where you get that dev quote from?

Well then at least they should make them custom for SP.

I will never go to MP anyway if my system cannot handle the game. But at least being able to play fluently on SP should be enough IMO.

:salute:

@Sop: I'll try to dig it up, but I'm pretty sure it's been said by LOFT several times in DD discussions (didn't gang me if I remember incorrectly)

The Exploit argument was/is just an excuse. Presets were introduced back in ALPHA due to random game crashes and overall client instability issues we had to deal with back than. With presets reporting bugs/glitches/CTD's ect became easier to handle for the devs. They also used presets to optimise (hardcoded) graphic settings for different kind of hardware.

Now that BoS is released and running stable there is no need for presets anymore. They're nothing more but relicts and it bugs me we have to scam threw game files to customize our graphics somewhat (like terrain_setting.ini).

In my opinion there is no reason why graphical options within the LOW to HIGH quality preset range shouldn't be customizeable or even serve abuse/cheating purposes. Don't want to sound pessimistic but you'll probably be unheared OP, the request for customizeable graphic options came up frequently threwout the last year already and since has always been denied by devs.

I don't have link for it but they stated that they might consider the custom settings at a point when much of the dev works is complete.

There's a reason this kind of threads keep popping up and I of course agree 100% with the thread starter. Please give us the tools to make the game run well and look good at the same time.

This about sums it up.  I think the graphics presets themselves are a very good idea. As long as we have a custom option available too.

And bump it morning time in RUS maybe some  dev will see this...

That was BS BTW,...We have the same custom settings in ROF (we had them in beta stage of BOS and saying it gives advantage is BS) There is the most recent statement from devs (I think Zak said it) where they said it will be looked at when they have time.

I think this will come at some point as all other big things that people complained about that were "set in stone" such as unlocks have been addressed. I think that even though the game has been officially released they are still tweaking the graphical performance and may not want to open all the settings from a testing point if view. PURE SPECULATION JUST MY THOUGHTS, DON'T BITE ME

Along with the graphical tweaks I hope that the Dev's also reconsider a mods on option. Like you Ace, it's pure speculation from me too :)

I am certain that the devs are aware of how everyone feels on this issue by now...

You may be right... speculation on my part as well..

As I said.. the devs are indeed very well aware of this concern.. therefore in order to prevent another multipager on this issue I am locking it.

See the Graphics Options Poll.

Options for both as I am happy with pre-sets Please.

But I can see the need for custom for some.

I am really disappointed with this game. I can run RoF with nice graphics and 30 fps+, my pc is not good but at least it was supposed to be playable. This game is really expensive, even more for someone like me who lives in a sh*tty country Brazil, I bet that a lot of players are feeling this way. My only hope is to buy a new pc (which is kind of a problem because I'm unemployed atm) or waiting for the devs to fix this problem.

Graphics options, visuals

Sorely needed are individual settings for what's covered by presets, and an option for at least one other kind of AA with a lower performance impact (FXAA, SMAA). Field of View options are included in Camera settings.

Performance

Framerate stays between 60 and 70 most times regardless of the graphics preset, and always feels like it could use lower frame time latency (less stuttering/lag). The situation gets much worse when looking around during flight, which kicks in Motion Blur and drops the frame rate to about 40, at which point frame time latency goes way up (as such, I recommend disabling Motion Blur). The game is quite playable despite all this, it would just be much more appreciable to have it running more smoothly, and to see it scale properly.

Agreed. I bought this game nearly a Year ago and have yet to truly enjoy my 90 dollar Purchase Simply because I cannot shut off a few Post Processing options that Massively effect my FPS. The fact that even on low they're still there infuriates me. I have eliminated all other options that could be effecting my FPS other than simply the Graphics Presets. and I REFUSE to buy a new video card just to play one game.
