I thought I'd do a bit of experimentation with P/P in the 190 but I'm somewhat confused as to which P/P controls actually apply.

I've assigned various commands etc but as far as I can tell I haven't as yet managed to influence anything at all let alone the AOA of the prop blades.  I assume I'm doing something wrong but I'm not sure what.

Can anyone tell me exactly which key commands are involved.

I'm not at home but I mapped a key to my HOTAS to enable manual controls and then mapped keyboard keys for increase and decrease. I only use it for taxiing on Expert servers, though, not in the air.

Thanks Merf.  I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I can't change from auto to manual P/P.  Grrrrrrrrrrr....... bloody irritating!!!

Definately something in the controls Wulf, because I can switch from auto to manual and then change de P/P, I use mainly for fuel economy. But I remember it was a pain to set up, as there are many options for different planes (just like the pitch trim for the 190/109 as an example) and I had to do some "trial and error" in setting up my controls.

Thank Istruba.  I've tried various combinations of things but no dice.  There'll be something I'm not doing but just what it is I don't know.

Are you on a normal difficulty server? I can't change to manual PP unless I'm on an expert one when flying the 109

Alt N or ctr N turns off the auto pitch in normal then u use the normal way of selecting manual p/p

When on normal server it's like a two stage thing

Wow... Thanks!

Did that do the job

Thanks guys.  Yes, it was the 'Normal'/'Expert' thing that was the problem.  Didn't realize that it impacted on prop pitch.

Didn't know about the Alt N Ctr N thing either.

Also ctr E works for this

For me it was Left Shift + M (auto mixture and supercharger), then the usual Right Shift + P to enable manual prop pitch for both 109 and 190.

I haven't changed any of these settings from default that I am aware of.

I forget the exact buttons but I always press shift N,M,P,R. I think N is for the Rev limit not the prop pitch my bad

Shift + R toggles auto radiators

Shift + M toggles auto mixture/supercharger

Shift + N toggles auto rpm

I guess those are the default buttons. Glad it worked Wulf!  :salute:

To add confusion for this confusion, dont try remap these default keys (LShift+R...), the new keys set this functions dont work. Add joystick button work.

Disable this "aids" work for NORMAL mode offline - dont know online.

Dude ur a smart person, I didn't think of putting one button for disabling all aids!!! BRAVO

Other observations - testing in game now.

I set - and = for control Prop Pitch (more easy to use), work OK in La5/Yak-1 but dont work for Bf 109 (I dont have Fw 190), this only accept the default Alt+ _ and Alt+ = for change Prop Pitch.

LShift+R is default disable/enable "Automatic radiator control", but in Bf 109 is need use RShift+R.

Not sure what the LShift+N "Automatic RPM limiter" do, in what plane, and in what mode (NORM/EXP)...

Maybe my controls are corrupt...

You know the Kommandogerät automatically used best economy fuel to air ratio at cruise speeds.  It switched to best power ratio when the pilot wanted full power.

That is why it has the two fuel flow curves:

Mixture%20regulator%20keeps%20constant%2

And the reason for the "gap" on the power lever to manifold pressure adjustment page:

Manifold%20pressure%20to%20Power%20Lever

I had some notion that it may just be possible to increase acceleration in dire circumstances, or perhaps add a couple of Km/h to max speed using manual P/P but so far it's looking a bit unlikely.  I haven't finished mucking about with it by any means but initial indications don't give much cause for hope.

In expert mode I am able to adjust prop pitch for the FW190 according to the prop pitch "clock" but no actual effect on the prop (using RSH P to enable manual prop pitch).

SH N does not solve the problem.  Tried a secondary key combo for SH N - Ctrl N but no joy, plus the other suggestions in this thread.

Any other clues?

I also note that the view zooms in when I press the trigger.  How do I cancel this feature.

thx

PS I was using LSH G to lock the tailwheel (no confirmation on screen).

After posting I noted others saying to lock the tailwheel by pulling the joystick rearwards.

Hey presto! - takeoff.  BTW My experience with the DCS Dora came in handy, very similar take-off technique is required.

Good luck!   :)
