PFR_Bearkiller72 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Salute, fellow pilots! Short question about the in game light AA types (Flak 38 and Type 61k). Do they have to be triggered to "wake up" somehow? I have a mix of light and heavy AA around my DF map's homebases, but only the heavy types (8-8 and Type 51k) seem to automatically detect and open fire on enemy targets. The light AA's have been defined as linked ent's and their side is set accordingly. Any hints? Best regards, Bearkiller72. Edited March 5, 2015 by SK_Bearkiller72
coconut Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 (edited) The way I am using flak, I set up an attack command with "air targets" checked. I assign the flak cannon as an object, and make sure the command is triggered in some way. It's working, but I have to say I did not try using AAA without an attack command, and it's possible the attack command is entirely unnecessary. I noticed that AAA does not do anything at night unless there is a searchlight nearby. I have also connected the searchlight to an attack command, which I'm not sure is necessary. PFR_Bearkiller72 Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 Ok, so far I've tried the "attack" command, as well as the "activate" trigger. NoGo. What's the secret in waking up the smaller calibre Flak? Please?
SYN_Haashashin Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Bearkiller, It should be the same as with other flaks. Noted that certain AAA was bugged so it may show up but not shoot at all, make sure the gun is there and if doesnt shoot let me know which one it is.
PFR_Bearkiller72 Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 None of the light Flak guns shoots at all... The heavies do so all the time, dangerously good.
Sokol1 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 (edited) In Lupson SMG the Flak 38 work, with skill Veteran only reacts after a enemy plane have overflew them, never fire on incoming planes. Edited March 8, 2015 by Sokol1

I just tested, and none of the AAA guns nor searchlights require an attack command, they are capable of taking initiative. The small caliber does indeed seem very tame at the default skill level.
coconut Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I opened an msnbin file from one of the game's missions to see how the pros do it: They use attack commands. See below. That was from the stuka nightly rebase mission. 1
IRRE_Golgoth21 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Hello, what are the conditions needed to make searchlight working ? Searchlight and DCA spawn when an aircraft enters but searchlight don't switch on. Any idea ? If i just set a searchlight and an attack area, it works but the flack doesn't ract when a plane entered. Strange !!!
LoupVert Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Heya Golgoth,what about that way? I finally figured it out. What controls the turning on and off of landing searchlights are the "force complete" MCUs. If the priority is low, the light is turned on, if the priority is high, it is turned off. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15089-how-activate-runway-spotlights/?do=findComment&comment=255879
IRRE_Golgoth21 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I thought about it... i'll test it right now.
IRRE_Golgoth21 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 No, it's not the solution. In fact, i just set a search light that way : mision begin----->searchlight <----| | | |-----> Attack zone---| it works that way
