Finally, after 8 years of looking for that feeling I had when I first started flying IL2 Sturmovik 1946. I now have it back thank you 777 and 1CGames!!!

I agree. A great simulator, easy to flight, with better FM/DM/ballistics, etc....than Il2 1946, but the same feeling than flying Il2 1946, at least for me.

Only we need plus servers with different roles to have plus possibilities at hour to play

IMHO oppinion the 'feeling' of flight in BoS is unsurpassed by any sim out there, and it's leaps and bounds over the old IL2. it's not even close.

This new incarnation of IL2 has now surpassed its predecessors in virtually every aspect having to do with the sim itself. Where BoS is still lacking is in content, but they've only just gotten started and I have full confidence, that we'll see a lot more content added over the coming years both from the devs and the community.

of course, this "feeling" is playing, not about FM or DM or similar

This is my impression, not "the true", people reading this take in account....(and in my bad English)

Il2 1946 isn't a real simulator, it's a "pseudo-simulator", that implicate in one part the simulation of the software (FM/DM/etc...better or not), but in largely implicate the user simulation, the rol that user take at the hour to play.

You can play in Il2 1946 in "full real mode" with the real tactics or in "arcade mode" (flying at 10 meters/500km/h doing passes over the enemy base, with your Dora, for example, or with your BF109F4 with 105mm ammo...), in the same Full real Server. Is it one simulator or one game?...

The reply is in the user rol, not in the software and not in the level of simulation.

For me in Il2 1946 it's most important the combat tactics that the simulation of the machine.

In this case, Il2 BoS have the same "spirit", but increasing the simulation level and, of course, graphics.

The only point that IL2 1946 it's great, vs Il2 BoS (and all flight combat sims), it's in the possibility to have dinamic campaigns (like SEOW), and the aircrafts and maps that he has. But today this is impossible, the market has changed, and the form to have money to devs...for example, selling the unlocks if you pay aircrafts...for example.

All sims have his systems to take money, and this situation only implicate if user want to pay or not, isn't a questionable behavior, not for me. ;)

This is coming in to its own as the next entry in the series. I hope it has as long a life - if not longer - than 1946. Playing some offline against the AI earlier I had a few of those "wow" moments I had back when I'd first started up a 4.0x merged install on high detail!

Yes, it's remarkable.  I fired up '46 a while back, and couldn't stick with it for even 10 minutes.  And I remember when it was the greatest, most fantastic of all times, which wasn't even that long ago, considering.  For me, there's already no contest between BOS and '46, it's BOS hands down, and meanwhile I'm dying for more content and maps, etc.

I disagree with a lot of this as far as IL246 goes. All assessments of IL2 46 in reference to BoS need to be considered in the context of 14 years.. and in it's day it was the only simulator...

BoS is truly a work of art. All the crazy things going on during a simple dogfight: the cinematics, the chaos, the smoke trails, the subtle lighting of the gunsight reticle, the DM, FM, it is just stunning and quite overwhelming, a true smorgasbord of sensorial inputs, just spectacular.

This is what I've been thinking and occasionally saying. What IL-2 BoS has is an amazing sim at the heart of it. And it has heart. We know it has flaws and the scope is still small compared to its predecessor but give it a few years. What really matters is that feeling of flying...the sensation that you're almost there. It's remarkable.

More please!

I've been slowly getting back into BoS last few days. Finally able to fly around with all my controls mapped, it's coming together and it's great fun. Good to be back!

Agree to all positives. Its THE true successor of the original IL2 and its becoming even MORE awesome with every patch! :)

Practically the only game/sim I fly/play. Need nothing else.

Yes absolutely great sim. I played the original IL-2 until 2011, after the release of CLOD. Finding out soon that CLOD was not the successor I hoped for. A time of despair and hope followed and relief was there in November 2013 with release of IL-2 BOS.

Finally...with the release of the DServer and Editor the other guys in my group have picked up the game and we're playing it the way we want (100% expert settings...WITH external views - we like watching each other go down in flames!).  This is what we were hoping the game would become.  The guys are still miffed about the unlocks (they picked up the normal version) but we're getting there!

I've ridden the roller coaster of emotions and personal opinions on this game...it needs some tweaking...no doubt about it, but I have to agree...it is a work of art.  I've never flown a better simulation of visual flight in any other sim.  The atmospheric immersion is just amazing in this game.  Needs much in the line of AI tweaking......more command options, and the ability to support additional ground activity without chugging down my system....But after this latest patch and Lupson's contributions, along with the historical skins...I'm having fun again with the game.  I'd support another project if this game keeps improving like this.....but I can't promise I will not bitch along the way....

Okay guys I got a sin to confess...been playing lots of Warthunder lately nooooo!

Last night after mapping most of my controls I take up the IL-2 in a quick mission to fly around and blow up some AAA. Everything in this sim is just so much more REAL. The planes actually feel like they have weight to them, the tracers actually look like bullets and not glowing Starwars lasers. When I open and close oil and water rads I can physically SEE them moving open and closed, the flame from my exhaust stacks, when I move the controls in the cockpits I see all the wires and pulleys moving. This sim has it.

And the sound, oh lord the sound. It's so LOUD I love it! I really feel like I'm in an old ww2 plane, loud, shaking, sputtering. I took a random AAA hit and I JUMPED in my chair it was so loud haha. Had my engine shot out, smoke/oil filled the windscreen. I opened the canopy and leaned out, flying home Ace Ventura style and crash landed back at base and loved every second of it. Good to be back guys!
