71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 people with higher ping seem to take no damage...
Zjahna Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Not me, I am routinely downed with ping from Australia typically >300
-TBC-AeroAce Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I sort of get what u mean as sometimes it seems like u have hit but there is no visible impacts. But iv had that and them they burst into flames etc after a little delay. U have to also remember if they are pinging a lot u may not be shooting directly at them as they will be further ahead than is shown to u (not sure if that is how it works but I assume so).
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 yes for example; I was shooting head on and the guy never shot at me, as I was shooting at him I could see I hit his nose (FW190) and then 3 seconds later I'm cut in half, and he's pulling away with only minor damage. I'm like WTF?!
beepee Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Quick start a thread to ban them all! Just joking. I am a high pinger myself (being in NZ). I would have thought server admins could place limits on ping if it really is a problem for everyone. U have to also remember if they are pinging a lot u may not be shooting directly at them as they will be further ahead than is shown to u (not sure if that is how it works but I assume so). It is how it works. Warping and lag with damage are common in any online gaming when differences in ping are large. I don't even know where to see everyone else's ping. I just try and avoid any servers that are in the red range in the server menu (which is most of them for me).

I'd hate for that to come back in to play...as frustrating as it can be with the visual glitches (my personal frustrating favorite: "crap, got a guy coming down for a pass" turn into him, watch as his tracers fly harmlessly wide and then half a second later my wing flies off), I do enjoy playing with others from around the world (this is a good reason why coops need to come back ). I don't know if the devs ever answered what kind of netcoding BoS uses, but this thread on the WT forums explains it pretty well. I'd love to know a little bit more so we, as users, can better guess when someone is attempting to "game the game" or just dealing with unfortunate latency/packet loss.
