II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Hey, My traffic limit was reset with the updates. I know there was a thread (DD?) on how to calculate the traffic limiter for MP but I can't find it. I did search and browse the DD overviews but couldn't find it. Who's got the link? Thanks in advance. As a side note, Mod's, it should be stickied somewhere (Software/Hardware) for new guys too.
216th_Xenos Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I don't remember where it is, but they said to use this site: http://www.speedtest.net/ And divide the results by 4, and that is what you enter into your MP download and upload speeds.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Divide by four for both or just one Up/Down? I thought one of them was supposed to remain at 1 and the other was divide by four. I could, admittedly, be wrong. Edited March 2, 2015 by HerrMurf
216th_Xenos Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Yeah, divide by 4 for both, I have 20 down and 5 up on the speedtest. So in game I go for 4 down and 1 up.

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks BlackSix, That is closer to what I remembered.

This causes other planes to slow down and your own plane is not controlled smoothly. 2) You have fast internet, but your in-game settings are for slower internet. That causes all planes around you seem to be flying oddly slow. How it should work when set up properly: a) Find out the speed of your internet connection (use this test, for instance; EU server - Dublin, US server - San Jose); b) Divide this number into 4; c) Put the result into the Downloading speed field (if the test result is 10Mb/s or less, put 1 or 2 into the settings); d) Uploading speed may stay default which is 1Mb/s (but you may down it to 256kb/s is your uploading speed is limited for some reason) Considering the listed principles, you may experiment with network settings. But what you must keep in mind is that you should not underestimate or overestimate your internet connection quality. So if my stats are .... And I divide by 4 then I get 22 correct? Not bad from Atlanta Georgia to California. Chief Edited March 2, 2015 by -NW-ChiefRedCloud

Willy__ Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Does the changes in the "multiplayer options" effects the online gameplay ? Or it is just used to download the mission files ? If they do have some effects on the gameplay, what they do ?
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) so why do I lag? Edited March 3, 2015 by 71st_Mastiff
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 ping.jpg so why do I lag? Did you ping the server next door or did you actually select a non-default, distant server like Chief did..? Lol...
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Did you ping the server next door or did you actually select a non-default, distant server like Chief did..? Lol... I had ping LA from EL Centro as you can see EL Centro California to New York so the question begs, why do I lag? I really think its the other people lagging and not my issue and therefore their causing me to have the problems with them. Edited March 3, 2015 by 71st_Mastiff
Phant0m Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I really think its the other people lagging and not my issue and therefore their causing me to have the problems with them. That's entirely possible - here is my connection to (approximately) the TWB server. Regards, Lag wizard from Oz 1
