Kling Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) When you start ROF the very first thing you see is a camera rotaing slowly in a hangar... Well in the background there is a I-16 and it has been there for as long as I can remember. At least 6 months... What Im wondering is why noone ever pointed this out and have the plans for a ww2 eastern front scenario been planned for a long time by 777 studios?? Longer than we thought?? SYN_Ricky Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) It's been there since that menu was introduced, and it was quite early in the game development, long before CloD even came out. There's been quite a few threads about it on the ROF forum Edited December 13, 2012 by SYN_Ricky
Sturm_ Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 The fact is... It's not a Hangar, it's a museum. So next to WW1 room you have... WW2 room. Now it may seem like it was put there by a reason, but I don't think so. It was just logical considering what you were looking at.
AndyJWest Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I think the consensus at the RoF forum is that it was put there as a nod to Oleg Maddox and the original IL-2 series - there has always been a degree of interaction between the two development teams.
BlitzPig_EL Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 You will also see a 1929 Blower Bentley sitting there. Doesn't mean Jason is working on a pre war Le Mans racing sim.
=69.GIAP=STENKA69GIAP Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 The original developers of ROF started out building an online war using IL2. Effectively you registered for the campaign and there was a rotating set of co-op maps running 24x7 that you could log into and fly. The resulting stats were published destroyed objects removed and front lines moved. I flew on this many years ago. So you could say that ROF grew out of the IL2 community. The I16 was there from the first launch probably as a reminder. What is more speculative was that the leader of neobob and Oleg were friends and probably agreed to each keep to their "own war". I can't remember seeing anthing from Maddox suggesting that they would move back to WW1 or anything from ROF that they would move forward to WW2. However, if I remember right Jason was certainly an active part of the IL2 community promoting the title when he was at go gamer.
J5_Lehmann Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Look cool, for one moment I really belived this :D:D:D
