Hi guys! :salute:
I used to fly on your server, I like it. :)
If you do not vkurse, the other servers collect statistics of players, but your server does not keep statistics of players ..

More details can be found in this thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/2692-il2-cdr-aka-komander/

We are waiting for the connection statistics. ;)

The first iteration of "The Pocket" is up on the server. Needs testing and polish...have at it.

Please test:

Medevac aircraft loading up passengers, specifically while another medevac is loading up on another loading ramp/slot. You'll get a text prompt to finish flight and a "loaded" He111 will become available at Pitomnik...fly this back to Verbovka for mission objective.

Burn Stalingrad to the fucking ground. I need to see if the amount of smoke kills people's FPS.

Drain the fighter aircraft from airfields and see if the mission ends correctly.

Check FPS near south of Kalach over the tank fight (when it starts...give it about an hour after mission start).

There's other odds and ends that need tweaking that I'll get to later

Thanks AM.

I flew the first time last night on your server and it was incredibly smooth ( very nice ping for me in SE US ). There were a couple of nice plumes of smoke over Stalingrad and flying through and around it I noticed no frame drops at all, honestly there was no lag at any time, anywhere on the map for me . The best thing for me is that during an engagement I can actually keep up with the aircraft ( that WILL eventually shoot me down--  ), ie, best fluid movement of any server by far I have been on.

Thanks to all TWB's for sharing this with us and for their hard work !!! :salute:   Oh, some very nice folks on this server also which is icing on the cake !!!

So last night i tried to do some medevac runs from "The Pocket". I have to say th mission is great, lots of things to do, so much variety!! But besides my poor first landings on Pitomnik (broke some landing gears and blades, it was my first time in 111) i had a couple problems.

First i didnt know where to taxi to get the ambulance to appear. Then i figure it was where the fires were, so the Tip here is to take off from Verbovka and set your hdg to 64 and seat back until you see the smokes from Pitomnik, you will land with a hdg of aprox 90 i think and you will see the fires to your right, get inside the ramp slowly until the message appears that tell you the ambulance is on it´s way.

Once i got this right, i finished flight an 2 times i had the option to take off from Pitomnik, hit the airfiel in the map, and when i´m going to choose the loaded He111 it disapeared.

The third time i got inside the loaded 111, and, just to se if something changed in the bombing sight, hit the V key and the screen went black.

Fourth time, inside the loaded 111, took off, flew all the way back, and when i´m flying over Verbovka got kicked out of the server...

So i went to bed losing lots of injured soldiers,,,

Thanks for the report URUAker. I've heard of a couple instances where the medevac aircraft disappears when trying to spawn one at Pitomnik...Is there any chance it was taken by another player? I'm trying to find out if this is a game/mission bug or just an instance of someone swiping the aircraft before the actual player that landed one gets it.

The black screen thing happened to me online and in quick SP missions too, I think it's a new bug that came with this patch.

I've been trying to gather input on how to better explain the process for getting to the ambulance loading area. Having too much text on the screen (which shows up for all of the team, not just the He111 pilot) can get confusing for players. I'm open to suggestions and feedback on anyone's experience when doing the medevac stuff.

Hi AbortedMan, yes it may be possible that someone else took my loaded he111, not sure about it.

I don´t remeber reading a reference about the fires in the briefing. Maybe just a line saying that the ramps will be marked by fires would be of great help.

Another thing i forgot, when you are in the loaded 111 the HUD compass doesn´t work, a minor issue since the 111 has lots of compasses to watch

For those still confused as to where the medevac loading ramps are on the current mission:

One issue I came across was when I tried taking a Ju-87 with the 3.7 canon-pods of glory.

The BK3.7 is still showing as a locked mod when you check loadout. And when I spawned in I had no canon poddy goodness,

Other than that I had a blast.

I was just going to ask this very question. I Took a HE 111 to pitonmik taxied around then gave up. The smoke makes the base easy to find but that's about it. Thanks on the loading ramp info.

Would be nice if one could stick a directional sign in the snow at the end of the runway...

If you are landing to the East turn right, turn left if landing to the West.

You need to taxi right up to the small fires between the cammo netted supplies on the ramp.

You can stop your engine as you need to end flight once the troops are on-board.

The He-111 then becomes available from Pitomnik and you fly the wounded back to base.

Thanks a ton for this, beepee...I haven't been able to get on my computer much other than for work lately. I've been wanting to address issues with explaining the mechanics of this objective in better detail so there are less unknowns to new people (in-game), but haven't found a viable solution. These pics greatly help explain things.

As far as the 37mm on the Stuka, that is a game bug that is out of my control in regards to mission making. Fortunately, all you need to do to fix this little hitch is hit the "Restore settings from mission" button in the loadout screen when you choose the 37mm Stuka. The missing weapons thing happens when you have a previous Stuka loadout that the game is trying to keep persistent when dying/respawning, but cannot due to the locked loadouts.

I landed at Pitomnik taxi'ed over to the fires and stopped. I got the green message saying that the wounded were loaded. I shut down engines and 'finished mission'. When I looked at the map there were no aircraft available at Pitomnik to select?

Did you see the truck roll up and the drunks get out and run?

You only finish flight after the truck has arrived,

Ok this time I waited for the truck

and as promised  a Medevac was available

I flew it west and landed at the nearest base.

Sorry, I did not mention it. But, you need to fly them back to Verbovka.

Just a small question:

How long I have to wait for the truck?

Just a minor detail, you looked the FW 190 with the 90 rounds drum for the MG/FFm, but usually they were fitted with the regular 60 rounds drum, at least I always thought that.

It should be something like 45-60 seconds. If you find a loading area that isn't spawning a truck, please let me know which one.

I've had to make some ahistorical limitations for gameplay sake. I'm open to suggestions and input, though. Having too many loadouts can get hectic to manage when dealing with the aircraft count logic in the mission objectives.

Not a problem at all, I just thought I mention it. Good work with the server anyway :salute:

Is there any AI planes on either team on your map. I like attacking aircraft but I am usually the only one on your server (mountain standard time late evening). Or could you give me a general idea were I could attack ground targets like tanks. I can fly either nation.

Best Regards

The axes of advance of ground targets for each mission is highlighted on the map with the red/blue arrows once you pick a team. There are also markers on the map that show what targets are still needing protection/destruction...to include a German recon aircraft spotting the Russian armor.

I can't speak for AbortedMan but I found it is often empty but always active. I have joined in by myself and have been pleasantly surprised how fast it gets populated once a couple people start playing. I have started a game alone and by the time an hour goes by there are 15+ players in and playing.

This is a good question. I haven't played on the server in a while due it being empty, I don't understand how they're approaching the dynamic campaign, or what they're working on. But It seems like they're going off the same concept as the old SYN server which didn't work. Personally, I don't think a dynamic campaign would work with one mission alone, but many. For an example, if your mission is to stop the Russian assault on Gumrak and you fail, the mission should end with the next mission pretty much being a copy and paste of the previous, only with a new objective and Gumrak in the hands of the Soviets or vice versa. This keeps players in the game, BoS needs a different concept in multiplayer because these 3 hour missions get boring and everyone leaves.

@AbortedMan, in the old Eagles Nest server there was a special plane that only got one spawn, I forgot what it was called but I think this would be cool to implement for various aces who flew over Stalingrad in real life (could even have their custom skin if someone is willing to create them). I have a lot of information if you're interested..

That special aircraft was the scout/recon plane...and yes that would be a very cool addition to have a unique skin for it.

Our goal for the server/dynamic campaign is to have a series of missions that will be strung together and played next based on the objectives achieved or not achieved in the missions...so basically what you are describing. Unfortunately this multiplies the amount of missions needed exponentially to simulate a dynamic environment, so it takes a lot of work. TheElf has been doing a huge amount of research and planning so that I can map out which missions need to be created with what scenario/objective to simulate historical events of Operation Uranus over a series of missions. I've noticed a drop in population as of late which has admittedly decreased my enthusiasm for this project, but I'm confident that the new additions coming soon will get us up and running at full speed once again.

I will be in there when I can be, but 60 hour working weeks....yadda yadda yadda.
