JimTM Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) I gunned for Oneeyeddog for awhile and his flying made me nauseous; all that bobbing and weaving just because some bullets frightened him! And you can't even get peanuts or a beer on the flight. Boy! I love the Eagles Nest Server so far. Good job folks! Edited March 19, 2015 by JimTM 3

oneeyeddog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 How many gunners have you guys packed into one plane so far? Chief Chief, we only had Human gunners in the Stukas although I did bounce around in my He111 for a quick look. next time Jim we'll bring some dramamine and an air sickness bag and go Full Real.
Basher Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Lets put it this way Chief...if Dog could strap me to the landing gear on a Stuka....he would hand me a Kar98 and say aim true! Edited March 19, 2015 by Basher 1

JimTM Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Will do Hooves, on Friday. Dog's latest plan is to seat Basher in the "Water-Heater" bomb to turn it into a "Smart-Enough" bomb.
oneeyeddog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Hey guys! Swing by our ts! Thats where most of the coord is happening. Www.80hd.net TS3 server: ts3.thewetbandits.org Thanks, we'll certainly check it out.
[TWB]Pand Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Thanks all for the continued support! I have some screenshots from last night's action regarding our attack on Businovka airfield! Our pair of escort Yaks kept the 109s busy while our flight of IL2s ruined the aircraft and supplies on the ground. Good hunting! http://www.thewetbandits.org/forum/discussion/comment/100#Comment_100 1
oneeyeddog Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Last nite we flew several missions bombing the supply depot North of Panshino. We were able to cause damage with bombs but our rockets and cannon seemed to cause no damage. Wondering if this is done to keep this strictly a 'bombing mission' and not so much a ground attack mission. Again Thanks for putting your time into this. 1
[TWB]Pand Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Talked with ABM, it turns out the durability of that supply depot was incorrectly set. We have updated to match the standard/expected durability. Thank you for pointing this out and will be deployed in the next version! :Salute! 3
DD_Arthur Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 DD_Arthur I don't know if this is the same problem as RoF but based on my experience in this particular BoS server it seems like its fixed and is no longer an issue. 1
[TWB]80hd Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 FYI: Due to the performance issues we've been experiencing/you've been reporting recently, we've moved on trying new hardware in an attempt to alleviate the problem. We're hoping to gain some benefit out of slightly faster processor core speed (3.5ghz to 4.0ghz) as well as (fingers crossed) gaining some benefit from the virtualization layer. We're not entirely sure as to how this will all pan out, as the underlying problem is undoubtedly bound to the fact that the dserver process refuses to make use of available system resources beyond a single core. More as it develops! 6
[TWB]Pand Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 New server hardware was effectively deployed and operational as of 9:00PM Eastern time on Sunday March 22nd. We have seen positive improvement in overall performance due to the increase in clock speed from 3.5ghz to 4.0ghz. We will continue testing as the week progresses. Salute and good hunting! 4
oneeyeddog Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I have a question regarding the TWB - Eagles Nest Server. Im having trouble finding any of the German ground attacks indicated by the red arrows on the Mission Map. For example, While patrolling for these ground forces, I receive an announcement (i don't recall the exact verbiage) in red at the bottom of the screen : ' German forces are Now attacking Northern Stalingrad from the West '. I quickly flew there but could not find any attacking forces. I wonder if I'm just not seeing this attack , or do I need to fly a recon mission, also a red letter announcement, in order to spot these attacks. Its also entirely possible that Im lost and patrolling the outskirts of Chicago, or these forces are destroyed or Im there at the wrong time but I've searched now on several occasions and found nothing. Any advice?
[TWB]Ewertsp Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 About the northern tank column, if the attack is not happening you can find them on the roads inside the red area. Just fly over each road until you find them. If they are attacking you may find them in openings near the hills NW/W of rynok.I don't know much about the other columns but I noticed they spawning outside the red arrows to the west of stalingrad, on the road the crosses pitomnik. It's not a easy task indeed, try to establish a search pattern over the areas and pay attention on the messages. Sometimes it says that they were spotted near some city so you can narrow down the search area. 1

We were able to locate and destroy German vehicles on and near the roads to the West / North West of Stalingrad last nite. Thanks for the advice, it certainly helped Also, I'm if someone can give me some info on how the Pe-2 Recon missions work. Will an enemy ground target within a certain radius of the Recon AC immediately appear as a red dot on the Recon pilots map? When and how does the Recon pilot share the gathered in with his team mates?

"Also, there is a "recon mission" on the Russian side out of Verk. Akhtuba that I could use some help with testing. In its current version, you take the "437 IAP - Recon" aircraft to fly out and search for enemy armor positions (vaguely marked on map), once you get close enough to the German armor you'll get a notification and a timer to return to base as fast as you can before the intel "expires". If you make it back in time (and in one piece) you will reveal the German tank's position on the map for your team for ten minutes. It's still very much a work in progress and it's a pretty makeshift use of mechanics to get the concept working, but with some work and vigorous testing it should be workable. Everyone please give it a try and provide bugs/suggestions/feedback."

That has actually been updated since then Dog, now the recon aircraft simply needs to fly over the enemy column and once the message appears that you have spotted them, they enemy tanks will be illuminated on the map using the "radar" of a friendly spotter to indicate their position. ABM has taken the really crappy automatic radar being forced on us and turned it into a rather cool feature. What else is neat is that the tanks will then begin to engage the ground spotter and a small battle will break out. Once the ground spotter has been destroyed the indication on the map goes away. So its good to take a mental note of which keypad you found the tanks in, as they have a 33% chance of spawning at three seperate locations.
oneeyeddog Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks for the advice and the Information, Hooves. There are cool things happening on the TWB-EN Server.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Thanks for the server guys. Just a couple of questions. 1. Is there a reason there is no "Target Key" on the Briefing Map or other indicator whether a ground target has been destroyed or not? 2. I, and others, have noticed no AAA at what appear to be "virgin" targets and after bombing and strafing target areas, there are no ground kills indicated at the end of the sortie or in the "tab" stats, e.g. Train Stations. Why is that?
AbortedMan Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the server guys. Just a couple of questions. 1. I, and others, have noticed no AAA at what appear to be "virgin" targets and after bombing and strafing target areas, there are no ground kills indicated at the end of the sortie or in the "tab" stats, e.g. Train Stations. Why is that? Unfortunately I cannot change the icons during a mission, they are not dynamic. Aside from the airfields showing that they're available or not, the map should be treated as an actual paper map that you may have scribbled on during briefing that day. I've labeled the icons and given very short instruction (Destroy X, Defend X) on the map to keep it uncluttered. You'll be able to tell if a ground target is destroyed visually by checking the state of the building/object or the giant plumes of smoke emanating from them once you get close enough, or by being in the cockpit to read the on-screen notification that simulates a radio call that an event has happened (Supply depot under attack, airfield under attack, tanks under atatck) Train stations aren't tied into objectives (yet). Also, I have no control over what gives ground kill points, that is purely a developer function and I'm not sure that the common building gives points when destroyed, but I will check. I hope this answers your question as I don't know what "virgin" targets are, the targets I see have been penetrated many many many times, forgive me! Edited April 2, 2015 by AbortedMan

TP_Jacko Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 S! Guys, I like the sound of this and will see if a few Tangmere Pilots can make an appearance we are mostly European based so a few hours ahead of the US hope we don't miss the action Cheers Jacko
Urra Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Speaking of targets, would it be possible to add two more targets of your choice in the vicinity to the train station way up north on the map? It's kind of lonely up there but I find its a nice bomb run. It would spice it up a little when you actually get closer to the action area.

6./ZG26_Emil Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Pand was telling me that to do something (i cant remember) you had to land at the active runways....I was just wondering is there somewhere stuff like this is documented? Nice missions btw I really like the fact the airfields are far apart!
AbortedMan Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 (edited) Pand was telling me that to do something (i cant remember) you had to land at the active runways....I was just wondering is there somewhere stuff like this is documented? Nice missions btw I really like the fact the airfields are far apart! Yep, it's in the mission briefing...for some reason (I'm guilty too), no one ever reads it. It's like it has a spell on it that makes it so no one's brains realize that there's text there. I've gone onto other servers and just completely glazed over the briefing screen and absorbed zero information. Maybe it's the neutral font. But to answer your question, there are He-111s that can spawn from Kalach labeled "Supplies" that you can land at various bases to resupply the aircraft available. They can also "capture" Karpovka when two He-111s land and finish flight there (Karpovka starts as a netural/unspawnable base at mission start). Once/if the majority of XIV Panzerkorps make it into Stalingrad, they secure the area and require reinforcement/supply by Supply He-111 landing at Rynok and Shkolniy (this will win the mission for the Germans). If XIV Panzerkorps makes it to Beketovka, you can also reinforce/supply them by landing at Grishin and Beketovka to win the mission for the Germans. Edited April 8, 2015 by AbortedMan
6./ZG26_Emil Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I'll be honest I never bother doing the missions in DF servers we just fly CAP at high altitude when we're on as a squad (as we've always been 100% PVP orientated and most of us have barely dropped an online bomb in our long careers) but your missions do look fun. I got the impression he was saying that you had to land on an active runway to not be counted as a kill or something like that?

I got the impression he was saying that you had to land on an active runway to not be counted as a kill or something like that? Oh, that's a built-in game function in any mission...if you land at the airfield you took off from your sortie counts as 100% successful and returns your aircraft to the available supply pool (if the "Aircraft return" function is enabled at that airfield)...I'm not sure if this works for any other airfields, I've seen it count as "Emergency Landing - 50%" when having to divert to a different airfield I took off from, but people have said they've gotten "Landing Successful" sortie completions in the same situation. You can effectively negate someone shooting you up if you make it back to the airfield in one piece, and you get to keep your points!
6./ZG26_Emil Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Sounds pretty cool. If you check in here again is you server running I don't see it in the list?
Godfather_Actual Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hey abortedman, I have been playing on the server and the mission seems to be shaping up great. I just have a question though. Why do you prefer to have the planes spawn with the engine running instead of having them start off?
AbortedMan Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 It was originally because the 109s had a bug that wouldn't allow manual prop pitch controls to enable when engines are shut off at spawn, but I decided to keep them on since there isn't much player interaction in the start up sequence. It was just more time spent not in the fray which added too much off time since I moved the airfields farther apart.
Godfather_Actual Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Alright makes sense. I was just curious. I personally like to see my engine start up but now that you mentioned it. I do see a difference in auto prop ground handling. I always have to turn off the auto prop for taxing in engine cold servers. The prop does handle better in your mission as I do not need to turn off the auto. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work! S!
