Mission Editor Troubles

Hi Guys,

Looking for some help here.  Any insight and/or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

So -- updated our Server installations today ... no problems.

Started them up:

1>   Missions were ignored....    :-(

---  Found in another thread that changing the  "Ranked" setting to 0 in the .sds should fix that.  Did that... Then...

2>  ERROR!!! Couldn't load missions...

---  Didn't see a thread on that one... So, I thought maybe they just need to be loaded into the Editor and re-saved.

---  So, I ftp'd them over to my local home box where I can edit/test missions...

3>  Fired up Editor - tried to load the .msnbin files for those missions...   Runtime Error....  Ruh Roh!

---  Got no idea where to go from here...

Anyone else running into this, and/or solved it?

Thanks in Advance,

Hi Fourspeed,

Try deleting the .msnbin files and load the mission again, this will generate a new .msnbin file and suppose to load without problems. This happens cus the ME version is changed. Use to happens with RoF as well.

Thanks Haashashin,

That is a part of the problem -- getting rid of the .msnbin file does allow us to pull the mission up in the editor without a runtime crash.

Unfortunately, just saving it again, didn't solve the issue.  It turns out that at least one of the objects in our mission is no longer available since the new patch.  So, even with the newly saved .msnbin file, the server was still throwing the "Couldn't load mission" error.

Fortunately, when the server tried to run with *only* the .mission file, it threw up a pop-up box: can't load object The object it puked on was:  \LuaScripts\WorldObjects\Flags\flag.txt

That corresponded to the flags used for the windsock at the player fields (no idea why that object is broken). Anyway, the quick fix was to simply remove those windsocks from the player fields, and re-save the mission.

It killed an evening figuring that out, but that solved the issue with the missions on our Basic Training (Battlegrounds) server now  (Yay!). :)

Unfortunately, the mission on Wargrounds was made by another NW guy and I cannot find his backup copy (that has the .mission file in it), so I'm still trying to contact him to get that mission fixed... Soon™ ...

Your tip was one very helpful step along the way though. Thanks!   :salute:
