Getting excited about ME possibilities.

Since the Mission Editor should be incoming shortly, I've gone back to look at the ROF Mission Editor's user manual. I've just been skimming through without building anything, but my god there are some amazing capabilities in there. Of course it'll take me ages to get the hang of building even a basic mission, but I'm pretty excited about the potential. Reality may prove somewhat different of course as I don't have lots of time to invest into these things like I used to, but I'd love to bring Willi Jedermann to the Ostfront at last.

Here's a link to the page with the ROF ME user's manual.

It looks very complex but also very capable. We'll see, I guess.

Well, the game sure needs some actual content, and at least with the user base making missions there might actually be some quality injected into it.

Good to hear, we desperately need folks such as yourself for some really good  mission/campaign flying.

I've got a few ideas I'd like to try out once I get the mission builder. I've looked at parts of the ROF manual and some YouTube tutorials and there is a lot to like!

Well without co-op and dserver capapability that you can start a server you're

self I guess for myself it does not matter what they come out with first.

I guess if you like playing offline single player missions it is ok.

Hopefully it will be a complete FMB and not just a ME.

ME are too limited.

If you have ARMA 3 fiddle with what they call a ME

hell it is a FMB extreme that you can do anything

and I mean anything with.

For whatever reason, they seem to refer to this one as a " FME", rather than "ME" designation used for ROF.

Now no telling if that actually means anything or not...

Wasn't aware there was a difference. Hopefully just a question of semantics.

I really hope we'll be able to fly your excellent missions also in BoS FSM!

You and me both.

And, thanks.

I just hope there will be some good missions put up for download so us peons that cannot come to grips with the overly complex map making tool that they call a mission editor can host some missions for our friends and squad mates.

I have tried to figure out the RoF editor, but it just makes my head explode.  I'm not an IT professional, and never intend to become one, so you folks that can use the thing, please take pity on us old guys and build some nice, downloadable missions.

Depends on how user friendly their ME will be.

If it is not I am not wasting time on it.

Life is too short.

LOL, if FlatSpinMan takes it into his hands we have nothing to fear ;)

That's where I am at with it in it's current state in RoF.

What we really need is a gathering place for staging missions.. A room like Hyperlobby where the guy running the mission can see who is ready to join said mission, and launch it when it is ready.. That way missions would and could be treated like coops.. I know STEAM has stuff like that, but honestly I don't make use of allot of the STEAM stuff.. Just too many annoying kids in who voices are like fingernails on a chalkboard due to them not hitting puberty yet.

I do enjoy making missions for ARMA 3 and RoF...though I don't publish them.  I do hope we create a good community hub where we can download peoples excellent missions.  The only thing I really hope to see added to the RoF style editor is a percent-chance function like ARMA 3.  That allows even the mission designer to play the mission without being 100% sure of what he's flying into.

In ROF you can randomize your triggers already, so you can create missions that won't play always the same.

Hi FSM, as I told you long ago, anything you need just let me know. I can share working groups for SP missions or answer any questions (If I don't have the answer hopefully Vander does ;))

Cheers

Roger that. I'll need lots of help. Right now I'm just reading, trying to understand the logic.

Having Ony worked with IL2, I'm looking forward to playing with all the triggers, AI commands, plus all the info you can put on the map.

The section on Animators or movies looked intriguing and potentially really cool. Nooooo idea at all how it works though.

Ja, bring Willi aus Osten sie bitte. Plenty of adventure awaits him, be sure.

Alas, dear Time, oh how abundant you used to be...

...with the overly complex map making tool that they call a mission editor...

Seems a bit... defeatist, before we even get the tool.  There are some really really good howtos and guides out there for the RoF version, and sets of objects and so on. (If only a certain other WWII-based sim's FMB had been so well supported by its users.)

Well it's not meant as "snarky" in the least, it's a truthful assesment based on my experience trying to come to grips with the RoF Editor. Sorry if you find my experience not to your liking, but it is what it is. And yes I've seen the guides and tutorials. I'm hoping that the Editor in BoS is a bit more accessable to non code writers and folks like me that do not work in the IT industry.

It seems everybody wants my Willi again.

I hear you on the 'time' thing, although now that my daughters are 5 and 7 I am getting a bit of time in the evenings again. My wife keeps wanting to talk though. Women.

I haven't seen the editor yet but I wouldn't hold my breath for it being significantly streamlined.

And the comunity will help too as we already did for RoF.

I wonder how "testing" one's mission will go. In order to test that the mission plays out as intented, you need to testfly it. That's when 12x time would come in handy rather than 2x :);)

As far as I can tell from building missions in Lupson's SMB, this is indeed a problem. Testing missions in BoS takes much longer than in the old Il-2 1946 because of the limited time-acceleration.

And there is another problem I've noticed when testing missions build in SMB. Enemy planes that are too far away from the player's aircraft don't appear on the map, which makes it almost impossible to check if they follow their waypoints correctly. I really hope the FMB will have an option to influence the visibility on the map.

You can use text (subtittle in the FMB) which is display when your flight fly over one point.
