[DBS]airdoc Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Hi all, I 've been trying to set up my FacetrackNoIR headtracker for BOS, and got through most of the obstacles, but there is still something that i 'm not sure if it's built in game or has to do with my configuration. My issue lies in the pitch axis. When I look up, after about 60 degrees (0 deg being looking straight forward at default view), my view jumps to looking backwards and up (about 150 degs). The result is that I have a blind spot at about 90 degrees (looking straight upwards) which really messes things up in a dogfight.Anyone else experiencing the same, or do you think it may be a bug related to FacetrackNoIR?Cheers
Urra Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 4 things I've found I have to do in order to get good range of motion are: 1: make sure the eye is on top of the monitor, to the right side more and looking slightly down at your head. It can't be straight ahead. 2: the curves can be increased upwards quite significantly in the application program to allow more movement while using the smoothness slider is set to about 20. 3. The rotation of the LEDs matters quite a bit, try keeping the lower LED slightly further away from your head, But not too far. I have never used the one that is attached on top of your baseball hat. 4. The noise filter slider in the game when maxed out reduces the range in motion my trackir. So avoid maxing it out. I keep mine at 50%. You can find this by drilling through the menu to the input or devices button...if I remember correctly.
indiaciki Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I have the same problem and an additinal one. I can't center on the gunsight. It's only in BOS. Works great in DCS, ROF and x-plane but it doesn't work in BOS. The forward view with gun sight. Any idea how to fix this?
[DBS]airdoc Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 @roaming_gnome : I can't see an option for noise filter in FTNoIR. As for the curve increase, as far as I can see, the problem arises when the pitch output curve exceeds 90 degrees. The response in game seems to be smooth all the way up until about 60 degrees (which corresponds to about 90 in FTNoIR), and then it jumps over to the back of the plane (although the response in FTNoIR test charts is still smooth and corresponds nice to the head movements). @indiaciki : Try to bind a key assignment for centering view in FTNoIR. Click on the "shortkeys" option and you will see it. You may also find helpful to assign a key for stopping FTNoIR, and using F10 in game to reassign the default view.
Urra Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The 'noise filter' is within the game only. I have Trackir5 and didn't read the first line in your paragraph thoroughly enough. I've never experienced any problems with it.-so far.
TWC_Spardog Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 BOS not recognizing TrackIR5 after latest updatei (it's running but only indicating green LED; blue LED's are not lit). Cockpit view locked to forward only. Don't find a control setting addressing TIR. What is the correction for this issue? Thanks for any insights.

I had a similar issue where TrackIR wasn't working properly. My solution was to uninstall the TrackIR software, I then used CCleaner to clear the registry entries, reinstalled the software and it worked fine. Hope this helps?

WWGeezer Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Sorry guys, I have the same problem as Spardog. Trak IR 5 software, worked before last patch, doesn't work after. Followed advice, fully removed ran cc cleaner reinstalled still no joy. Did it twice by the way just to be sure, still no joy

Did it twice by the way just to be sure, still no joy Have you tried updating your list of supported games from within the TIR software? I remember the fiasco a few updates ago when TIR seemed to have been broken, and at that time it could be fixed by updating the games list. Mine is working fine after the update, so there doesn't seem to have been a general breakage at least.
WWGeezer Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I will try that next, I always fly with the same profile so I didn't think that mattered. Will give it a go and see if it makes a difference,
TWC_Spardog Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 SUCCESS!! 1. Copy/paste original TrackIR5 to New Folder (G:\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5) and renamed version (TrackIR5_BAK) 2. Downloaded TrackIR5 and extracted to New Folder (G:\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5) 3. Copy/paste TIRMOUSE application from new downloaded TrackIR5 to original TrackIR5 ("G:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\") Started BOS and all TrackIR5 LEDs lit up!! Pleased to announce BOS is back to normal. The above may not be a "computer guru's" solution, but, it works for me. I hope this solution will work for you guys too.
