=LD=4brkfast Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Flying the La-5 around a bit I am forced to push forward to keep the plane level even with the bird trimmed full pitch down. It's been a few years, but this suggests the center of pressure is a bit too far forward or the center of gravity is a bit too far back. It currently makes stall fighting and gunnery a bit too difficult than it should be. It shares the same issue the Lagg had in the early days. I love flying the La, after flying the Yak, which leaves a lot to be desired in the roll, it makes the La seem like a dream bird to fight in. Keep up the nice work, despite some minor flaws the game is quite impressive. Thanks for reading.
303_Kwiatek Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Hard to say. I think devs got detailed data about La5 construction also about mass and balance. La5 got about 200 kg heavier engine that Lagg3 so it got some more mass in forward.
=LD=4brkfast Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 I can appreciate any information about the La the devs probably have. I'm far from an expert. But it has trim, at speed it should probably be balanced and fly level when trimmed properly. The point I made was that even with max elevator trim down, to push the nose down, the nose will still rise. I doubt the La behaved in such a way, but who knows, maybe it did? 1
NobbyNobbs Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I think devs got detailed data about La5 construction also about mass and balance. AFAIK they have full report about investigations La-5 in wind tunnel.
303_Kwiatek Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Pity that they didnt modeled heavy stick forces in LA5 and LAgg3 at higher speeds ( above 250 mph). Other hand Fw 190 got too heavy stick forces at high speeds.
