Stalls and Spins in BOS....

One of the reasons I feel il2-BoS is so special is the way some aspects of the flight dynamics model provide so close to real virtual sensations of flying. This includes even some post stall situations, and I like to read ( now that I started to do it too... ) some texts on how this or that fighter, Axis or VVS, behaved, sometimes in an idiosyncratic manner...

The Bf109 was known to be designed as a very safe ( spin-wise ) fighter, and it was apparently always trying to help his pilot getting out of such situations, but it could be forced to spin, and, it actually acted differently depending on if the spin was initiated to the left or to the right...  I find replicated in the F4 and the G2 most of waht we can read regarding the stall and spin characteristics of this fighter.

I don't know about the VVS fighters, but my preferred - the LagG3 - offers me what I believe is a very plausible representation of the RW spin and stall characteristics of that model.

My only criticism might be the practically imperceptible pre-stall buffet, and the accompanying  shaking that should probably be more visually perceptible ?

But, it's still remarkable how this rather tricky part of the flight dynamics model got implemented in BoS !

I also find the pre stall buffet sound effect is very accurate to my RL stall and spin experiences.

My FF Joy stick also has a feint lightness just as the stall is about to occur just as in RL flying of the types I have flown.

But I agree the signs could be a little more obvious in this game but IRL the buffet in my experience has always been subtle.

Do you have head shake on in the camera options? Pretty sure my screen slightly shakes when I get close to stall but that might just the the ffb and butt kicker shaking the desk and chair.

On some gliders it can be very subtle, but on most of those I flew / fly, it's very evident, and shaky :-)

Butt Kicker ?  Poor neighbors :-)

Thx for the hint Penshoon!  I'll check that "head shaking" option!

Yeah I can only use the butt kicker during daytime on weekends, I've had people from 3 floors below be come banging on my door complaining about the noise even though I've had my chair sitting on two layers of rugs and a sneaker on each leg of the chair....

And the head shake option should really be renamed to cockpit shake, it only shakes the cockpit, not your view.

Yes I have this too.

Agreed the powered I have flown also shudder, but its mainly through the air frame.

Screen, Head sake is the only option here I see apart from the Butt kicker option mentioned to replicate this anywhere near reality.

Dunno about 109 casue it is very stubborn on spins and truly speaking i cant get right spin on it. It behave little strange to me.

Regarding Lagg-3 i think some time before it got better spin characteristic modeled. It had more nasty spin and take some time to recover.  Like RL LAggs was described. Now it seemed too easy  - it is less nasty in stall and recover near imidietly from spin.  It behave more like Yak-1 now.

I think the best stall/spin modeled is Yak-1 actually ( still i dont have pre stall buffet).

Fw 190 looks overdone to me.  Before 1.08 it looks more natural.

I got also no pre stall buffeting in my FF stick -   only high speed dive buffeting occurs.  Initially i though that BOS is lacking pre stall buffet but it looks that it is some game issue that my force stick dont shake -  other guy got stick shake.  Strange casue in ROF i got pre stall buffet.
