SCG_Neun Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) I'm not a business man....my wife is the business woman......so I don't have to be. But.......if I had the ships wheel with 1C/777 I would have dedicated one person...to pump out 2 missions a week....use the FMB...they know how to work it right?.....Well....each week would have 2 new missions...Luft and VVS... which could be downloaded on our old Friday update day......Set some objectives.....blow the bridges, hit the tank columns...attack an airbase, support some ground troops.....target a HQ position....whatever...but I'd give it some excitement...some enemy fighter aircraft.....looking for a fight....Maybe you meet them in the action zone...maybe you don't...Just maybe they hit your base while you're trying to land and rearm...or better yet....get the hell out and just dive into a slit trench. This game needs a fog of war effect...There's too much...action zone BS....The Eastern Front was not so predictable...Then make a section in the forum....where guys could post their mission debriefing information...Maybe make it a short story...about the mission. Everyone that played the mission would find themselves perfectly within the story and I think it would resonate with the Community. Post some video...some stills. Complain about the fighter cover...curse about the AAA......the lack of visibility, the treacherous cross winds....What we have now...is just too damn full of promises...and not enough....showing off the potential that many of us think this game has....This would give everyone something to look forward to each week.....Make some excitement! No601_Swallow Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Give us an FMB and hopefully there'll be plenty of volunteers to do it for free, each week. And coop too! A dedicated mission sharing forum is a great idea too. Edit: to expand on that, I'm getting increasingly excited about BoS and the mission building potential. Veteran66 has got the ADN-2 German homing signal working in one of his missions, and there seems to be lots of scope for custom sound recordings, flares being fired, HUD feedback! If we can persuade someone with flair to pen a few stories, and historians to suggest missions and campaigns... The Velilikye Luki battle is absolutely epic, so supporting the assault on the city or trying to cover the retreat should be absolutely epic too. Here's the logo again (just because I like it!): Edited February 17, 2015 by No601_Swallow
SCG_Neun Posted February 17, 2015 Author Posted February 17, 2015 Right Swallow...and some area on the official site to upload missions that are being created....would be great!

DD_Arthur Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I think that's a really good idea JagdNeun. The fact is this game is flat on its a@@ at the moment. O.K., we know the mission editor will be released sometime soonish; ie this year but really with the announcement of BoM development Friday updates just got a lot more interesting. A couple of single missions released on a Friday with the Dev diary and a mission making subforum where they could be discussed too? What a good way to keep the momentum up for relatively little effort. They could revisit those original single missions too; just giving 'em some weather and a few tweaks would be a good start.
IIN8II Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 that is what the community is for . But of course we dont have the FMB yet.
DD_Arthur Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 that is what the community is for . But of course we dont have the FMB yet. Frankly, they'd better do something. It's early evening on the US East coast and a quick check of multiplayer shows nothing going on except Tumbleweed. Have a go at the campaign? Yeah, I'm kidding . The QMB? O.k., I must have been spoiled by original IL2 but what we've got now for a qmb? It's a slightly exciting game show called "Guess what your wingman will do next!" RoF's is still superior and that ain't saying much. Veterans missions? Some really nice work but the Char front slows my machine to walking pace at times. Time for a bit of love from the devs. Some relatively small effort made now will pay dividends in the near future when the mission editor is released to the community.
ShamrockOneFive Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Not a bad idea! I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the FMB and I know the server group I belong to is excited to get our hands on both FMB and DServer. I think things will pick up (slowly at first) once we have those things in hand. In the meantime I'm still honing my skills in the offline world and enjoying the sim that way. Just spent nearly two hours playing and having some interesting and sometimes challenging single player experiences (I know, weird eh? ).

I kicked some tumbleweed today on my end of the ghost town. But it was fun.. even if it was 3 folks total I saw online... Edited February 18, 2015 by roaming_gnome
BlackDevil Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I like this idea, OP. The missions have definitly be done by the community, so the devs can stick to their developement of the sim. A special section in the forum should be no problem.
OhhhhChihuahua Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) This has been discussed many times; the MP in BOS is less developed than in first MP 90s games. Not buying battle of moscow unless they improve drastically. Yes, flying is fun. No, it's not enough. That can be easilly observed in online numbers. 2 full servers during peak times. Wow, that's bad. I remember someone on this forum compared online of GOAT SIMULATOR and IL2BOS. GOAT SIMULATOR won easilly. Edited February 18, 2015 by OhhhhChihuahua
keeno Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Great thread, great ideas. I for one can not fudging wait!!!!
Elbows Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 +1 to the general idea of the thread. The game is dead on its feet at the moment. Without the mission builder there really is no game. It can't come soon enough.
Rjel Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I'd like to see some new missions trotted out every week or two. It's all well and good what will happen when the mission builder is released but til then... I would think to perfect the mission builder before release, some practice mission must be made to test. How about tossing us a bone or two?

GOAT-ACEOFACES Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Excitement back in the game? Ah, darn, I thought this would be something about sexy nose art or something! 1

For me an Dynamic Coop Campaign Generator for the upcoming dedicated server would be a more than an excitement. Expense is no object. Edited February 19, 2015 by Rudel

DD_Arthur Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) My my...this does look promising..... I think Lupson just put the excitement back in the game. My first mission; just a simple bomber intercept with lots of planes but I made it without any FMB. Just so easy............................................... Edit; oh yeah, I landed at a nearby field as my engine gave out. Pity I wasn't recording then as on finals, I flew through half a company of parachuting Lufties Edited February 21, 2015 by DD_Arthur 2
MarcoRossolini Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I've barely flown anything in months. The problem for me is that whenever I boot up MP I find the teams massively stacked in Axis favour (8 to 2-3 at one stage) and against those odds in largely inferior aircraft (and a completely inferior pilot) I just got why bother? I think the perception, if not the reality, of the unequal struggle you must face in MP in BoS is making multiplayer vastly less enticing...
