Are you kidding me...?  Just look at the DCS thread.. and look at the way things flare up around here and 9 times out of 10 it is centered around some CoD fan or critic who just cannot resist. Yes for the most part your posts are among the more civil.

 

 

What are you talking about... ?    What forbidden topics are you referring to? The only forbidden topics are the ones stated in The Rules. The topics I am referring to are the same ones that continuously devolve into schlock fests, usually between the same people, concerning the same subject, which is usually something involving CoD/Ilya/and now DCS over and over and over...

 

 

Read my post .. read the whole post... and tell me I am wrong.

 

How many times have I heard the term "hate" usually spoken by a CoD supporter who is referring to a CoD critic.. How many times has the fact that CoD was a PoS on it's initial release been stated here with the result of a multiple page thread again usually populated by the same people going back and forth and back and forth rehashing stuff that has been fought about for years on other boards.. How many times has it been said that thanks to the work or TF CoD is now actually quite decent.. with the usual rebuttals of the folks who still feel that they were ripped off and have to restate that fact... again... and again .. going into the rehash of stuff that has been fought over for years on other boards.

 

Every one needs to just get over it and move on. It isn't like we do not have a potentially  bright future to move into. From where I sit BoS is the closest thing to a sure thing that we have on the horizon at the moment  but that does not mean or guarantee that the other potential offerings will not succeed. Let's face it CoD is limited at the moment and it is going to be until TF can do what a developer would do if they had the full time and resources to do what needs to be done to keep it viable and moving forward in other than cosmetic changes but even at its current state it is enjoyable now.. We have no clue what DCS WWII will be like .... we can only hope.. but I will have Bos on my HD along with hundreds of others hopefully over the next 5 weeks..

 

No matter where any of us stand on these issues we all need to make a conscious effort to watch what we say and how we say it and look forward not backward before we hit send. If anyone thinks that this whole rant of mine was prompted solely by this thread then they have not been looking at the developer updates.. the DCS thread or any number of other threads that have popped up around here and gone to crap for the reasons and fueled by some of the un named folks referred to above over the past few months.

 

Maybe you should relook at the posts.  I don't see  many combat flight sim fans coming into the BOS forums, and saying COD is great, and BOS is crap.   BOS fans have full right to have a negative opinion on COD, but if they support their opinion with misinformation, then it usually gets countered by a combat flight sim supporter.  Yes maybe combat flight sim supporters shouldn't respond, but that would be doing a disservice to the genre, allowing a misinformed opinion sway possible customers who might enjoy a BOB theater aswell as an Eastern theater sim.

Well .... ummm considering that BoS isn't even released yet.. even in alpha .... anyone saying it is crap would look like a complete jackass no? 

 

FWIW I have seen a lot of posts mentioning how good CoD has become .. I have made quite a few myself..

 

Lastly... opinions are like buttholes.. everybody has one.. but as I said.. I am sick of hearing about how bad CoD was just as much as I am sick of hearing folks act like it is the pinnacle of flight sims.. it isn't.. It's just a chapter. That is the point of my post. If people bought CoD and still have issues with it then they are entitled to their opinions .. but I am sick of seeing them posted here and the ensuing muck storm that usually follows once the ardent supporters of CoD come to it's defense. I just want to see the whole mess end... if you like it great if you don't great.. and if someone else likes it or doesn't then what business is it of yours or anyone else's..? They are just as entitled to their opinion as you are to yours and you wouldn't want to go and clean up someone else's .............. so why rag them and try to clean up their opinion? If every detractor of CoD was met with a "It isn't like that now.. try it.." it would be different... But NoooOoOOOoOoOOoooo .. That is not how that movie goes...

 

It's only my business ... because I have to sweep up the glasses and broken tables after the fight and toss the offenders out of the bar .. and I'd rather everyone just drink and have a good time.

 

That winter map for CoD looks very good.. I would rather see a totally new map for CoD though.. I will be really impressed with TF when I see a new map and some new planes... otherwise for me they are just doing a fantastic modding job.. It is a shame that they cannot get the code.
