arrow_man Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I know there are a few topics like this but my solution is a tad different as far as I know no one has mentioned this. I found the cone to base had a lot of friction so I pondered it for awhile during my work week. I happen to me a mechanic so I have lots of different lubes and such. At first I was going to use dielectric grease ( same stuff we lube the sliders with in brake calipers) but I figured it would be to thick. Looking through my box and found a tube of "white lithium grease". It is a very thin but heavy duty grease that keeps its viscocity in freezing temps to hot as hell. Anyways its good for anything from general lubrication to heavy equipment. Also seals dust out and safe for electronics. Never dries out. Applied thin about of it to the cone and the base about 2 weeks ago. Thus far its has held up very well and I believe it will continue to without me needing to apply anymore. Sticks to the two surfaces and stays even with alot of friction and doesn't just slide/push away. Since I did that other than the initial spring compression the stick is smooth as silk. You can get a 225g tube of it for about $5-7 at most auto parts places. Personally I like the Kleen -flo brand. (REMEMBER the tube NOT the spray)
