Finkeren Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I don't even know why I post this here. I guess it's the only place where someone might find this kinda interesting. My 2 year old daughter has become something of a fan of the, quite good, Russian animated shorts called "Masha and the Bear" (Маша и Медведь) about a little girl tormenting a good natured retired circus bear. It's among the more bearable (pun not intended) shows aimed at small children, so if you have small children give it a try. Through the endless rewatching of the episodes available on Youtube, something has caught my attention: The show is littered with small references to the Great Patriotic War. Of things I've spotted so far is: Masha wearing a Red Army officers cap, Masha wearing a WW2 era tank drivers helmet, the bear owning several model planes (one clearly based on the I-16, the other an unambiguous MiG-3), use of music pieces like "Katyusha", "March of Stalin's Air Force" and "Farewell of Slavianka" etc etc. As I said: I'm not sure, why I'm even posting this, but some of you might find it interesting for some inexplicable reason. 4
Feathered_IV Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 It is interesting. Nice looking animation too. I imagine the legacy of the Great Patriotic War still runs very deep in the Russian popular conscious. 1
