Yakdriver Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 with unlocks here to stay, i hope they make that system worthwhile, and give it some proper use.For example, the Il-2 we got now is still missing at least a handsfull of weapons: chemical dispensers, Frag Bombs, and combinations thereof. the early variant [boM] could pèossibly have the 2x8 RS-82 loadout option.the 109's [ALL!!] could make good use of a 300L droptank? The stuka could get those Bombs that explode just above ground [blast, heat, shrapnell], and have that longer detonator in the nose, or the Bomb containers that split open in flight and disperse tons of little bomblets over russian troops and so forth and so on... there are tons of possibilities here.I mean, if in practice you get one new weapon per successful Mission, or two, of you really dealt a lot of damage to the enemy... you will end up "wasting" less time, and will have a ton of equipment options for your Plane. And that is my Main point: You say the unlocks stay. I suggest to implement a shiiiiiipload of unlocks. Make the Planes truly Capable, give them all the Firepower options they had back then.
SharpeXB Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I don't mind the unlocks and any more goodies for the planes is welcome.
Sokol1 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 In the way that are implemented the unlocks are a "quest" that induce the player ignore the game history (as if has any...). They are not reward for good performance in the war, but became the only objective and induce the player to cheat, for example, I discovery that the more easy and profitable mission is airport attack - a well placed 100kg bomb do the trick in one run - so be clicking in available bases only select this kind of mission, what combined with short missions, autolevel pilot and Expert level, make things "easy". And after do the "quest" I ignore any action/targets in mission, just fly, for alternative and secure route (avoiding overfly airbases) for the exit point. Why spend five minutes returning to base and landing (for more 30 XP), if in this time I can hit another base? Are no fun in this, but since the only motivation to play is the unlock why do different? In Far Cry (1) you get better weapons advanced in the campaign history, but not this dumb way "skin three Honey Badger" to unlock that weapon of Far Cry 4. Since the unlocks are inevitable (the "new generation"), make win then a good experience. I play the Veteran66 KG27 mission, that takes more than one hour between take off and landing, but it was a good experience, I have no motive to use speed time 2x.
J2_Trupobaw Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I agree with sentiment but anti-infrantry / frag / shrapnel weapons are useless in game with no infrantry targets...
Yakdriver Posted February 15, 2015 Author Posted February 15, 2015 trucks, jeeps, limousines... arty guns, anything that has zero protection, 1-2 mm protection or has men standing in the open can be knocked out that way.drop a few frags on an AAA position, and there is not a soul left to man the guns.drop them on the open-top rocket launchers, and they turn into meatgrinders. those ARE infantry targets.sure, the Truck or the 88mm won't be destroyed, but knocked out of action for the rest of the mission.and what more could you wish for than an "unserviceable" enemy vehiecle with a few dead soldiers around?
