=69.GIAP=YSTREB Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 I'm also in GM+9 timezone. if u into VVS u can join us and make another time zone wing. currently i'm the only one in this timezone at our 69.giap squadron
FlatSpinMan Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Silent_one (was that the movie about the sea turtle?), There's a few NZers registered here (me being one of them), but one of your better options may be to kink up with players in east Asia. Japan, Korea, Malaysia, China (at least the coastal bits) are in similar time zones to Australia. You may want to Google The oceanic wing, though. They were active in il2.

III/JG11_Tiger Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 There's a III./JG11 from down under. http://www.jg11.com/start.htm A couple of us are still waiting to see how things go, in the old IL2 we were heavily involved in the online wars and trained regularly to be one of the more successfull squadrons in that form of flying, only a couple of us moved over to ROF and most of the leadership are not involved anymore, but hopefully we may start getting into it again if the mp campaigns take off like the good old days.
silent_one Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I read the info on JG11's website. Frankly its quite off putting. Statements like , if you join " you must obey orders without question" The whole tone was really authoritarian and didnt sound like you wanted new people at all. Id like to join a group and have fun. Something better than these chaotic furballs I see online. But I want to feel like Im joining a club. not a cult
III/JG11_Tiger Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) I read the info on JG11's website. Frankly its quite off putting. Statements like , if you join " you must obey orders without question" The whole tone was really authoritarian and didnt sound like you wanted new people at all. Id like to join a group and have fun. Something better than these chaotic furballs I see online. But I want to feel like Im joining a club. not a cult Each to their own and yes I was a bit taken aback when I was first invited to join. We had some ex armed forces people in our squad and it was actually quite a lot of fun, no bullying etc just stick to the plan, we didnt want players that would jump into a fight willy nilly leaving their mates to get shot down when they should have been clearing your tail, we worked as a team and our first goal was to successfully complete the mission and make sure all our pilots came home alive, back in IL2 there were many very good and well trained squadrons and the only way to do well was to fly as a team. The people in the squad were all good fun and ranged from real pilots to truckies but all in the 30 - 60 age group, it was invite only, we flew it as real as we could when in online wars and training but still had a lot of fun in DF servers where of course we relaxed and did as we pleased. It wasnt for everyone but there were a number of squads run similarly and to be honest it was the best fun I have ever had playing a game/sim, we planned, trained and carried out missions as if it was the real thing, when we werent flying we used to do a bit of racing etc and all that stuff was just have fun no rules etc but we took the online wars seriously.
