[TWB]80hd Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) http://warthunder.com/en/devblog/current/745 "This is a quality renewal of the IL-2 series. The model is completely redesigned in line with modern requirements. The polygon count has increased from 14K to 52K. We have greatly improved the accuracy of geometry. This model is the parent in a series of future upgrades for the entire line of IL-2’s." "The Armour of the aircraft was made from 30 separate parts, which means that every armour piece has its correct thickness and material. It is placed at the correct angle and if a shell hits it - every armour piece thickness will be calculated. " "This IL-2 model has the most detailed and precise damage model compared to any IL-2 ever created in a game and sets a new quality standard for all of our aircraft." For real though... the balls on those guys. They may have a billion mousers playing Quake with a hint of aerodynamics, but to even jokingly insinuate superiority to the best sim on the market is HAHA funny. Tyberan Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 maybe its a typo, maybe they meant "best IL-2 in the game (WT)". still its pretty f-in funny
Finkeren Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I so want to hear that text read in the style of a North Korean news reporter 1
Yakdriver Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) funny as hell.like feeding pearls to the Pigs. Edited February 14, 2015 by Yakdriver
Guest deleted@13284 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Yes of course you are right because the DM in BoS is so perfect.
Finkeren Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Nothing is 'perfect', least of all an advanced sim like BoS, but compared to WT it might just as well be.

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Yes of course you are right because the DM in BoS is so perfect. Hell of a lot better than what WT offers, pal.
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Hell of a lot better than what WT offers, pal. That's not a high bar, to be fair.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) That's not a high bar, to be fair. No, but individually every DM in every major sim fails in one regard or another. I wouldn't even call WT's game design "flight modeling" or "damage modeling." DCS has a great system-level damage model. COD has a great visual damage model. BOS/ROF has a great physics-level damage model. DCS does not have a great physics-level DM. It does not have a great visual damage model. COD has a poor physics-level damage model. It has a greater system-level damage model than BOS (though not poor by any stretch.) BOS/ROF has a poor visual damage model (go ahead and crucify me with "subjectivity".) BOS is below both COD and DCS in terms of system-level damages but they are present. War Thunder is a game first, foremost and nothing more. It doesn't simulate damage, physics, systems or flight... It deals in hitpoints, game balance, percentages, chance, etc... Not comparable. Though I know that wasn't your point, Fishbed... When you get down to the brass tacks I think we're ultimately both on the same page as far as BOS and its overall modeling goes. Edited February 19, 2015 by FalkeEins
