SR-F_Winger Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Hi guys, I have my warthog throttle since the warthog was released. I was always happy (and am still) with its performance. A few weeks ago the throttle axis started to become sort of sticky. I uncrewed the bottomplate and took a look inside. After taking the thing apart i relaized that the friction creating elements of the throttlemechanic had some sort of "rubbery" inlay that was used up over the years and it started to become sticksy because pure plastic started to slide over pure plastic. I went ahead and bought some 10mm wide teflontape and sticked it inbetween the 2 parts that create the friction "replacing" the old used up rubberthingy. And now look - the throttle is so smooth its unbelievable. I once had a Hotas Cougar throttle modded with such tape and up until now this was the smoothest throttleexperience i ever had. The this way modded warthog throttle is just as good. Over all this mod takes like 15 minutes any if youre careful you dont even have to unplug any wires. Just be sure you remember wich screw was where since they have diffrent lenghts. Here is the kind of teflontape i bought and that fits just prefectly in there: http://www.ebay.de/itm/110979915816?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Here is a pic. The red circles show the screws that need to be unscrewed (under the cirquit board are some more) and the yellow squares show the newly modded friction parts with fitted teflontape. dburne Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Great to know, thanks! I too did the tape mod to my Cougar throttle and it worked very well. Nice to know similar can be done for my Warthog as well. Mine is still pretty smooth, but will definitely give this a go if/when it becomes sticky.
LLv26_Ozz Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I also used teflontape with my old cougar throttle Just wondering if that could be same grease problem that the stick has? (Is there grease in throttle? Haven't looked inside it yet)
Static Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I have yet to experience the sticky feeling on my Warthog throttle but I have noticed both of the throttle handles seem loose and will wiggle left & right now.
