SCG_Space_Ghost Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 -snip- German engineering very stronk...
Finkeren Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Well, they're spreading out their weight over a large area (9 pairs of buttocks) What's more impressive to me, is the fact that the 109 isn't nosing over, since every one of those guys is sitting ahead of the CoG making it more than half a ton heavier on the nose. It's either quite tail-heavy or is tethered in some way. Edited February 10, 2015 by Finkeren
MiloMorai Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The cowling panels were strong as they opened as one piece. Spitfire wings were strong.

Finkeren Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 CoG not same as centre of rotation when wheels down on the ground? Sure, but still, I don't think more than perhaps two of the guys are sitting behind that point either.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Goering's sitting on the tail. Impossible, otherwise it would break off.
unreasonable Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Sure, but still, I don't think more than perhaps two of the guys are sitting behind that point either. Looks to me like 6 or 7 out of the 9 guys are sitting behind a line drawn vertically up from the wheel. You could put an elephant on top, as long as it was behind the wheel the plane would not tip on its nose.
sallee Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Impossible, otherwise it would break off. Good point. Perhaps he just hung a pair of his pants on the tail?
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Good point. Perhaps he just hung a pair of his pants on the tail? If his pants are wet it indeed could work 1
unreasonable Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Or the nose is erect because the dog sitting on the spinner is looking at sallee's avatar? I know I am ....
sallee Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Hey, you.... I've told you before! Are you blurry as well?
Trooper117 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 German engineering very stronk... The Tiffy wins I believe...
sallee Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Hey, you.... I've told you before! Are you blurry as well? Or should I say, "The girlgone dog is mine...."?
unreasonable Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Or should I say, "The girlgone dog is mine...."? I wish you both every happiness, really I am not jealous, she looks a bit small for me.
sallee Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 The Tiffy wins I believe... Tiffy wins!.jpg That thing is a tank!
unreasonable Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 You would think that the wings have to be much stronger than the gear. Gear has to support weight of aircraft at 1 G plus some acceleration for touch down, wings have to support weight of aircraft in ?G turns. How many erks to the Tiffy?
voncrapenhauser Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Goering's sitting on the tail. LOL I always heard the 109 was tail heavy but that's just a ridiculous amount of ballast. The Tiffy wins I believe... Tiffy wins!.jpg Wins hands down. I cannot even see the wing lol.
Jupp Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 ~S~, Yeah, it is tethered, in some way (a big, heavy, bomb or (g) ), known also for, it's negative effect on Lift as well.
Trooper117 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 That 'bomb' is a fuel tank... It may be empty. We will never know...
