GOAT-ACEOFACES Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hey Gang Not looking to start a debate about unlocks! All I am looking for is a description of how they are obtained. I did a search, but all I found was the debate threads, is there a link that describes how you go about unlocking stuff? As in how many hours you have to fly, or things you have to do to unlock certain things? On a related note, I noticed that some online servers have symbols associated with them, off to the left, like chevrons and chevrons with stars, stuff like that. Is there a link that describes what those mean? Also, keep in mind that even though I have had BoS for.. Gee, long time, but I didn't actually install it and start playing it until a few weeks ago, so, I am new in that sense. Thanks in advance
dburne Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 As you are a premium member, you can do away with the unlocks come Monday if you want to. See the latest Developer Diary.
BlackBadger Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 not sure about the MP symbols, but there's fresh news out about 30 min. ago that unlocks for premium version buyers will be "optional" as of 9th Feb. Look into the latest dev update.
Jaws2002 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) The chevrons mean " ranked server", basically controlled servers, where you can't use custom skins, or stuff you didn't unlock. I'm not sure, but I think they don't let hosts use some aspects of the dedicated server, like stats, unless the servers are "ranked". As you are a premium member, you can do away with the unlocks come Monday if you want to. See the latest Developer Diary. That's not correct! You only get the loadouts and weapons unlocked, not the skins. The skins remain locked. Edited February 6, 2015 by Jaws2002
LLv24_Zami Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Play campaign, succesfull missions give you xp points which are used to unlock things.

SharpeXB Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) If you decide to play for the unlocks in the campaign it takes roughly 2000 points to earn everything for a plane. Set on Expert you get 240 points for sucessfully completing a long mission, 120 for set on Normal. So based upon that it takes about 6 expert long missions. The total time I spent in the campaign to unlock everything was 55 hours. That's just regular gameplay time on Expert and not rushing it. Edited February 6, 2015 by SharpeXB

PS thanks guys! Great info

Jaws2002 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) You have to grind in the offline career only, but the content it's locked from you in all other modes (online, or quick mission builder). In QMB and "NONRANKED servers" you have the ability to use custom skins, that are made by the community. This are locked out in the career and in the "RANKED" servers. You can see how the unlocks are spread around in your career on the "profile page". The green line under planes is the progress bar. In the individual plane page you can see what is where in the unlock tree. The things represented with gears are weapons, bombs or field mods, the ones represented by the airbrush gun are official skins. This are the only one allowed in career and ranked servers, but only after you unlocked them. [/url] greenshot Edited February 6, 2015 by Jaws2002
GOAT-ACEOFACES Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 Chief, please, as noted in my first post, I don't want this to turn into a unlock debate, plenty of those, and they all get locked.. I was hoping to just capture here what is needed to unlock items..
Weegie Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 If you're having trouble like me in achieving the skill level to fly to get the unlocks (& I'm not saying you are just another suggestion in case). As others have indicated elsewhere, Go into the campaign Select missions & plane you're trying to get the unlocks for, select normal, not expert & fly full mission Start the mission & Unpause "P" Select Autopilot "A" Select time x2 "]" Come back in 20-30 minutes & roughly 4 out of 5 times you'll be sitting back at your field with the engine off Gather up all the points I usually managed to unlock everything for one aircraft easily in a day. Remember that not every time you'll succeed, crash out or get killed now and again but just persist. So far I've fully unlocked everything for the 190, both 109s & the 87. As I've got no interest in anything else at present I've just left them. Come the time I'll just do the same again. Not a fan of the unlocks like the rest but its not the end of the world, programmers gave us a "cheat" so if you want to you can moan or do summit, that's the way I see it. I'm a big fan of the game, sure it needs some better missions and a better mission builder, but I'm still having lots of fun. I have BIG respect for the programmers and I'll just wait till the game evolves more. There is plenty for me as is and then some. I LOVE IT
Potenz Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Simple, you are a premium owner, from Monday you'll be able to unlock all the loadouts with your profile settings the skins will keep locked, you just need to play the campaign to unlock them. easy as that No MP unlocking system. Also in non ranked servers you are able to use user made skins.

Jaws2002 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) One more trick for the unlocking process. Whatever planes you want to unlock, do the bombers first. As you progress into the campaign and you get higher "skill level", the AI gets better and specially flak is a lot more deadly and you'll get shot down more often. The bad thing about this is that you get NOTHING for any mission you didn't get to the exit point, doesn't matter how much damage you did. Your time in that mission was just wasted. Usually if I didn't get damaged, I go home and land. If I got damaged, even if I didn't finished all the targets, I make a run for the "exit point" and finish flight so I don't loose the points. Edited February 6, 2015 by Jaws2002
SharpeXB Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Actually I did the Bombers last at Levels 9 & 10 and didn't have too much trouble. That's not due to any skill on my part since surviving level bomb runs against flak is pure luck ;-) If you aren't a Founder I believe you have to unlock them as well so doing them first might not be an option. Once you get the big bombs for the He-111 you earn points very quickly.
