IIN8II Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) ever* This is my first attempt at making a skin for any sim. Still have plenty of detailing work to do, but I like how it is coming along. The idea was to make it look as if the LaGG was just repaired with new unpainted wings as well as some parts from other totaled aircraft. Edited February 6, 2015 by IIN8II 1
Dakpilot Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Looking very nice a different model but similar concept, http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads2&screen=12212 might be of interest and inspiration Cheers Dakpilot
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Not bad at all for first attempt Looks liek you havent saved it with alpha though. With a proper alpha channel it would look quite pretty (matt wood + shiny metal).
Luger1969 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Inii8. Much in the same boat as you r. I decided last week to make a skin. Luckily Boomerang put a g2 toolkit out. I have id'd the airplane, downloaded gimp, the toolkit plus other and some tutorial videos from warthunder plus other info. I just want to make at least 1 skin but i am like a total total newbie. Keep it up it looks good as for my attempt i think it is going to be a learning curve.
Yakdriver Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 i have a LaGG WIP just like bthat.good going!
Jaws2002 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hey, you forgot to paint the wings. Looks good.
IIN8II Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 thank you everyone! I look forward to seeing your next project Yakdriver. I have updated my skins alpha channel to make to wood and primer areas more matte and gave the metal a bit more sheen.
FlatSpinMan Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Looking good so far. It's good that people are feeling encouraged to have a go at skinning. It seems a really interesting (HAAAAAARRRD) thing to do.
Yakdriver Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Nah?anything but hard to produce a DDS file that fits your favorite plane. Now - making a Plane that looks pretty damn close to the real ones, that's a challenge.
Jaws2002 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Yummy. It looks very good. I'd fly that. Edited February 10, 2015 by Jaws2002
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 In GIMP, how does one control how matte the finish comes out? I would like to have greens and greys semi-matte and the white matte or flat.
SCG_Neun Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) Looks really nice.... Would look much better on fire though. On a serious note however....I have to say...this game is just a beauty to behold, especially in the atmosphere...up in the clouds, the sun, the lighting...just perfect to me.
