Dakpilot Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) "The syndicate is awesome and it allows custom skins.the Operations test server, that shows up in the evenings in the US time, has the most ground action I've seen until now in BOS. I hate the screen full of messages, but the ground action is awesome. We had to fight a bunch of tanks trying to overrun our base, and it was fun and exciting, watching our tanks come in to help.http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12390-operations-server-ongoing-testing/Active front lines and you have to work hard to stop the attacks." Not experienced it myself yet but some positive impressions Cheers Dakpilot Edited February 8, 2015 by Dakpilot
SCG_Neun Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) Remember... IL-2 Sturmovik and Forgotten Battles had very similar if not exactly the same problems when we started off. Heck, we didn't even get moving objects like aircraft and moving tanks in dogfight servers until the last 4-5 years. I'm going to sound like a broken record. This sim has some serious growing pains right now and it desperately needs that mission builder and dedicated server software to be out. Agreed. Not experienced it myself yet but some positive impressions Sounds promising..and it is still early... Edited February 8, 2015 by JagdNeun
=RvE=Windmills Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 MP won't be fun until people actually start making interesting missions. Some extra variety in planes would help as well.
DD_Arthur Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Here you go JG77_Con; yesterdays Poker night on the Syndicate server from my side . Whilst I agree that multi player needs some help - you don't seem to need too much yourself. lol. This'll teach me to stop flying HUA after a successful bombing run . 1
caryatid23 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) OperationsTest server is up for some more testing; feel free to sign on and give it a go. Subtitles are nearly all removed; lots of targets. Instructions are in the briefing and here: -------------------------------------------------------- There are few main concepts to grasp then hit the skies. A)Sectors The ground battle is most active at the current sector. This is marked as a "target" icon on your map. In this mission it will always start at "A", then move to "B", then back to "A". The details of this movement can be different per mission and will be explained later. For this mission it just cycles so i can test it Current sector is shown as a subtitle in the upper left of your screen. B) Airfields and transport aircraft Each sector has 2 airfields per side. When a sector starts the "Support" airfield will be most active. The "Front" airfield less so. There are two special flights to choose from that are available when the airfield is well supplied. These flights are called "SUPPORT" and "WOUNDED" and are available in the "Support" and "Front" airfields respectively. By flying the "SUPPORT" flight to any active "Front" airbase the "Front" airbase will become better supplied. Similarly, by flying any "WOUNDED" flight to any active "Support" airbase will improve that base. Landing enough of these special flights at any one airbase will also increase the surrounding ground defences. C) Ground war. Tanks and other offensive units will be in heated battle, or on their road to it, in the currently active "Sector". Destroying the enemy's ground units will weaken them. This causes them to bring in reserves and become more defensive in their behaviour. It can also cause the enemy's airfields to have access to less aircraft. There is a missing layer of ground units -- All the road and rail units. They will be added in shortly -- I simply need to test w/o them active initially for performance reasons. I'll try and be around as much as possible and am very happy to answer any questions! edit: server name Edited February 8, 2015 by caryatid23

Very smooth and lots of coop type opportunity for flying with friends. AI flights come in waves. Great Stuff Caryatid23! Everyone who is wondering about coop multi should try it out! S~
Sokol1 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 People in the world play 16 years in this way in Counter Strike so why not try this in combat simmulators ? CFG always has "AirQuake", and now "Counter Strike". Is not nice?
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Thanks Habu for the links and further insights. Much appreciated. @Caryatid23, Just reading the briefing gives clues as to how powerful this FME can be. Excellent stuff. Hope to be able to fly that soon.
OhhhhChihuahua Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Hi all I fly online most of the time , and i can say it needs some love , at the moment it like flying aorund in a ghost town , sure there are players online , but nothing is happening , to get some sort of engagment you have to fly to the enemys airfield and wait for some poor dude to take off and hit him were it hurts . For me and im sure there are others that feel the same , this isnt what multipalyer is all about . We need Ai air frames doing important missions like --- Bombing , Escort , CAS , CAP --- the list is endless . Its a masive map i patrolled the front line twice and didnt see one enemy fighter , at the time there were 18 players online , people are disconnecting all the time , you need to fill in the boredom quick . This is not a dig at any one . i love flying but please add Ai for us to hunt down and kill , give the community some thing to aim for like ... medals . point system. stats . give it some life please . Agreed. It's boring as hell now. I gave myself a break for a few weeks, it felt like playing single player. If this isn't resolved and MP isn't enhanced I can't see myself playing it in the future. It's XXI century and the MP system in BOS looks like it was developed in the 90s. Different modes ( capture the airfield , domination, escort, defend ) Different missions. Maps need to be smaller for that. Clan wars Ranking system Wingman system ( i.e voice comms ) So many possibilites... And what we got ? Join the server option :> Edited February 9, 2015 by OhhhhChihuahua
KoN_ Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Yes agreed it needs some love , i fly the front line mainly but found out that every one is over the airfields , vulching , yes you get the odd fighter doing his patrol and you have your decent engagment , people are just straffing targets at all the enemys airfields and the plane count goes to zero within 20 min. so i spawned in at the far corner airfield with 10 airframes left ... !!!! i watched with my own eyes fellow axis and allies pilots straffing newly spawned pilots , raking up their kill state " cough"" bullshit , and didnt even let them take off , .........i find this so SAD. No wonder people are disconnecting . Trying to get my squad on here is like asking them to have a shit without any toilet roll .

Don't get me started on vulching again I talked about it in some other thread and how I seen another thread when some find it ok to vulch..... That is what happens when you put in unlocks in a game that you need points and kills. DON'T GET ME STARTED AGAIN! No... its ok all is good. We are getting a FMB with triggers like when I make missions in ARMA 3 that you spawn objects with a trigger's and spawn points and when they die you script it so they disappear. Sorry just dreamin'

ZaknafeinTV Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) I spend in RoF MP a 4 years playing day after day. I have seen how this game growing up. I have also seen how MP has falls and no one did anything. II./JG77_Con and OhhhhChihuahua have a right MP is boring as hell and offers nothing. Missions that we have now are good for a lot of players, specially for people who fly with friends in squadrons, maps are too big, they are good for 100+ people, not for 40. In RoF where missions were the same i see a lot of time new nicks who exited from server after 3-5 flights, and never come again. People who play only SP when they come on such server, they do not see an interesting game and just go out, or doing a stupid stuff like DD_Arthur did in his movie. Mission which I suggested should be interesting especially for new players, its easy to understand after few flights, forces on players a teamwork with little challenge to not die too fast because you will get punished. If we add to this small lobby, when you can play with friends or a random players, rank system, even with these unfortunate unlocks system, etc. MP will be more attractive for new and old players. Most important stuff is: there will be a co-op in mission builder? If not i can stop learning rof MB now, and I can promise that it I will never back to RoF and BoS, and future projects.
