I have always wondered why is there no buildings at the airfields in BOS? I understand they do not have big terminals or something like that but at least small houses/barracks where the soldiers/pilots live when they are not active. I mean did they sleep in the snow or in the planes? :D 

 

I know the condition was harsh there but during that long period of the battle some kind of structures should be seen at the major airfields.

If you mean buildings like smtg for soldiers/pilots to hide in,then there are typical russian ''zemlyanky''.Which is nothing more then hole dug in the ground with basic wooden frame and coverd by....that same dug out dirt from hole.Most of personel where living in nearby villages/towns (officers had right to have apartment/house asigned for them).There were only necessary ground crew members stationed directly at airfield and pilots in emergency flights/on duty.
