D_Konig Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I just read something - does the AI scale up to be more skilled as your pilot level increases?? If so - lame, wont it just eventually become insanely hard and beyond my ability to play ?
Yakdriver Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) 1-yes 2-depends on your ability to play? (depends on your ability to become not-so-lame ) Edited January 22, 2015 by Yakdriver
D_Konig Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 Great... lol I just don't want it to get so difficult it's not even enjoyable anymore. Admittedly, the first few levels it was pretty laughably easy it was just point and shoot. Im at level 6 now and starting to notice a difference, I thought maybe I was imagining things though.. I guess it's gonna get rough for me soon lol.
Y-29.Silky Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) I made the mistake of starting out with my fighters.. Once it got to bomber time at level 9... Lord have mercy, it was a struggle. Edited January 23, 2015 by Silky
Sokol1 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 If you are talking about the "Unlock Campaign", fly the attack and bomber planes first, avoiding do ground attacks missions when AI "level up". The major problem is the AAA, that became use "aim boot".
SharpeXB Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I'm at level 9 and haven't noticed the AI become particularly deadly. I saved the Bombers for last and am actually having an easy time of it. When you unlock the big bombs for the He-111 you get some huge scores. Actually I think it was my fastest plane to unlock. 1

D_Konig Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 That moment when I finally get the hang of the 190, I down 4 planes and am working on another 3 on a massive killing spree of a ground attack formation, just on a roll - and the game crashes to desktop. Ugh.
Willy__ Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I dont think the AI get much more difficult as your level raises. But the missions that the game gives you start to become more and more difficult, with some ridicolous odds, like 2 stukas and no escort, and when you get to the action zone there are like 8 yaks waiting for you.

Ugh. You can contact support. I had that problem and this is what they told me. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13564-cdt-campaign/
D_Konig Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 It doesn't happen often, just once in a while. Maybe once out of every 20 missions or something. Usually at the worst possible time lol.

He-111's and Stukas were fairly easy since all you have to do is bomb a supply depot and get +500xp. Peshkas and Sturmoviks on the other hand have much smaller payloads and you have to be down low.. Those are frustrating.
guidom Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 i am at level 9 and i have noticed the enemy aim becomes much more deadly. also, the engines are hit straight away, and damaged if not destroyed. if an enemy fighter shoots at me, he WILL hit my engine, and i have maybe a 10% chance of making it to the exit point and successfully completing the mission! i dont mind the added mission difficulty, it is just the enemy aim which is starting to get on my nerves.
BraveSirRobin Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I didn't notice anything different about the ai at higher levels.

I always though the worst feature in the signature aircraft of this game is the armored band around tbe cockpit. It kills your situational awareness. I sometimes just fly with it open and maybe that's what they did in reality. The best AA defense is to place the threat on your 3:00 or 9:00 exactly where that band blocks your view. With the AA gun there just watch for its tracers and duck. Dodge your plane down or up and they'll miss.

The AI have un-human accuracy, even on QMB, its not a exclusive problem of the campaign, depending of the angle/relative speed of the merge it will always hit, no matter what you do. The only advice I can give you is spot the enemy planes early and do the correct evasive manoeuvers planned way ahead.
