Anyways, back on topic: did the devs gave any ETA on the next patch ?

You can be glad she's actually called Tante Ju :) Definetly nothing racist about it, it means "aunt Ju". It was it's inofficial nickname based on it's outstanding reliability under extreme conditions, versatility, flight characteristics and most important because it was the backbone of the transport Geschwader bringing supplies to the front and transporting wounded soldiers from the battlefield to hospitals (sometimes they served as mobile hospitals themself).

All that gave it a lovely character and eventually it's famous nickname.

They had stated that it was at least two weeks out.

Definitely looking forward to Ju-52s. Will be fun to taxi up on their six and calmly take them down with the Lagg's 37mm have new, challenging targets to intercept.

Could be fun to fly them as well I suppose, though I'd have to find some way of sorting out throttles for 3 engines when I've only got a Thrustmaster throttle.

AI is very rare in MP, so onliners won't be seeing much of it unless it becomes flyable.  Sorry guys.

+1 we need her to be flyable

I wonder how much it takes for the devs to accept and make her flyable :)

Pilots, rise your pitchforks!!!!

Springfield wants the flyable Tante

It's a needed historical aircraft for the period and can be used in any theatre. I'm just happy it will end up in game even as an AI target.

If it appears in the hangar, it should be released flyable !!! :-)

It's the first thing that came to my mind looking at this nice screenshot...

Anybody interested? :D

From a technical point of view, once they've developed the simming tech of modelling three engines, think of all the other three engined aeroplanes they can add to the game!   :P

I dont think thats a major problem. In fact the game engine can already handle 4 engines(ILya Muromet) and it have already been stated that the Ju-52 will get a FM in the same quality as the flyable planes :)

I know. The "humour" (such as it was) in my post hinged on the fact that three engines is a bit of an oddity, at least for WWII aeroplanes. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Personally, I'd love the '52. I'd also love the other factors that others have mentioned to be available: supplies payloads, unload/reload routines, parachute drops, etc. Would be great.

Incidentally, with the Ju52 available, hopefully, online servers might start inserting AI flights into their missions. An AI resupply run into Gumrak every 20 or 30 minutes which would need to be defended or intercepted would add a dynamic and exciting goal-oriented dimension to online servers, it seems to me.

I understand now. :) Yea i cant think of any other plane with three engines either. I am really curios how it would be flying the 52 ingame and see how different the plane acts with an extra engine compared to the usual 2 engine aircrafts. If they make it flyable it will be the first 3-engine plane with AFM on the market :)

The Italians had a few that they used.

Single eniged aircraft were prone to mechanical failures by that time though. As he was appealing for a major ariliner contract Junkers found a solution in fiiting it with 3 Pratt and Whitney engines and increasing it's reliability. The new model is the famous Ju 52/3m (3 Motor).

The 3 engined setup was indeed inspired by Italien designs of that time. It could basicly fly with any engine shut or just the central engine, which was a remarkabel capebility by the time civil flight was still very dangerous.

Other design influrencing aspects were the Treaty of Versaille prohibiting germans to build piston engined planes beyond a set speed limit, small field airstrips and scare ressources. Considering all those aspects combined with a politically and financially highly weakened country the result is even more amazing.

To me the Ju 52 simlpy is the flying "Volkswagen". It's simple, good looking and a classic getting the job done. :)

I would pay $xx (in the RoF business model) to have this included if it were explained as part of a coherent plan, rather than a project destined for who-the-hell-knows-what.

Come on, guys; you have a captive audience here if you would just revert to some form of open and honest exchange.

Yeah, and we likely all would...

Revert to what..? Jason came in and let us know that the announcement they were planning got pushed... Thus, the gameplan is at most two weeks out... It sounds like unlocks are on the way out (at least for some of us...) We've seen a Macchi in the works (maybe not the best choice...) and the Ju52 looks great... Zeus' map (and campaign) is on the way... MY FRIGGIN' HITSOUNDS FINALLY WORK...

What more is there to want right now?

I love your blog, FalkeEins; embrace me, brother :)

There is a lot of money - really - ready to be invested if the team can get their communications duck in a row. I hope this works out; I really do..

Speaking of hit sounds, how did you get that to work?

When my cockpit gets shot up or my wings or anything really (which is often) I never hear anything, I just see the dreaded this and that destroyed notifications on the sidebar. I could be taking rounds and have no idea until its too late.

I changed the startup.cfg file that I saw in another thread, but no joy.

Same here. There is still the sound bubble issue and I don't always hear every one (like I believe we should) but the .ini change has done a lot.

Do you have a sound card or you use the onboard sound???

Quality onboard.

If it has worked for every other title (including those with native 5.1) it should suffice here too.
