Guest deleted@13284 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I'm still kicking myself for not picking this up when it was 40% off at Christmas but money was tight and I was playing other stuff that consumed most of my free time. I nearly bought it at EA but at the time I had moved on to F2P stuff like WT/WoT etc and was having a lot of fun. With regards to flight sims I'm mainly a SP sort of guy but just lately my interest in MP has been re-awakened by RoF. Is there any benefit to purchasing it on Steam rather than direct from here?
Dakpilot Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Unless you are a fan of steam and use its functions to keep in touch with steam friends etc. there is no advantage, steam updates are much larger than from main site download for some reason, and come a little later. Also Steam takes a % of the sale price If you already use Steam I guess it makes sense, however for those that don't want it there is no benefit Cheers Dakpilot

Also Steam takes a % of the sale price The steam updates are bigger because somehow steam doesnt let BoS do incremental updates, while the people that bought BoS on the site only need to download the new things, people with the steam version have to download the big chunk of file all again, everytime an update is realease. Lister_of_Smeg: if you are more into SP would suggest wait a bit, as the sp of BoS is lacking a bit, yet. But if that doest bother you, or if plan to play MP regularly, go for it. CheeseGromit Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 The potential benefit I see of Steam would be taking advantage of a sale, both for purchase of the game and any future DLC. I've not paid any attention to sales direct from the devs/publishers though, I didn't know they had them.
Yakdriver Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 They had them at the same time, obviously...
Guest deleted@13284 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Personally I love Steam and would prefer to have it on there. Thanks for the link Sokol but I don't know that site.I have bought just a serial number before from a retailer I trust but they have very few flight sims for sale. Guess I'll just have to wait patiently for the next sale

I will admit I've not read a DD for ages. The unlocks, although they have no place in a flight simulator in my opinion,do not worry me so much. As a WoT/WT player, unlocks are the norm and therefore I can live with them.
RedGuard Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I'll buy all the locked items just to get rid of the grinding. hold on a minute... Maybe that's what it's all about Red
