Campaign and unlock-system

Hi there,

as I have read in other forums of the flightsim community, most people are really annoyed with the boring campaign and the unlock-system.

Many have quit flying BOS because of this - me too!

If I want to attack a "dangerous" IL2 that has a rear-gunner, I first have to fly the IL2 in the thing that you call a "campaign" to get the reargunner position unlocked, I find this extremely annoying. Online it`s not better, the servers are most of the time almost empty - probably because many more think like I do.

My question, will IL2-BOS get a real campaign in the near future and get rid of the unpopular unlocking system or will the developers ignore these points of criticism from the flightsim community ?

I don't like the unlocks, but you're basically asking the devs "So, have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

Do you honestly expect an answer from them?

... if I honestly expect an answer ? Yes why not, that`s how you treat customers normally, you have an ear for their questions otherwise you quickly loose your customers, at least in normal business life. About beating my wife - no need to beat her I have killed her long ago  ...

A quick read of the latest DD will give you your answers along with the similar thread a few lines down

That's complete nonsense, BoS is actually the Combat Flight Sim with most people online all the time. Only other Combat Flight Sim which comes close is Clod. In BoS you get full servers every day from afternoon till long after midnight european time. In Clod the good games start at around ~7oclock in the evening till after midnight. In DCS if you are lucky there is one or two hours a day, with "populated" (~20 people) servers [Only exception is the 104th with modern day jets]. In RoF you are lucky if you find a game during the week, almost only (more or less) full servers on the weekends. And in 1946 beside the online wars, the multiplayer is completely dead.

So please, stop with false claims!

... maybe you are right, its quite some time ago that I was trying to fly BOS online, at that time the servers were almost always empty, even on weekends, that`s why I quit flying.

don't know your timezone, but try again today at 5pm GMT, and you will see at least one populated expert server

Same as Celestiale's and mine, as it turns out then  :P

And while I have quite a few problems with the game, I have to say that what few good servers are out there they're usually decently populated. If nothing else, look for the Syndicate or DED ones. One or the other is usually at the very least half full, even deep in the night. If not both of them.

Good question - I think you're now required to keep posts like this in the following thread.

http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/11694-campaign-system-unlocks

Yes that is the case...  per...

I'm going to politely ask you to post this kind of stuff in the designated place our forum. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/11694-campaign-system-unlocks/page-16 This thread is about a particular update.

And I have said it many times before. 1C has nothing to do with the unlocks. The community has an incorrect view of what 1C is or how it operates. All big decisions were made by the board of directors of which the majority are not from 1C at all. 1C has not dictated anything to 777 or 1CGS, nor did they dictate anything to any other previous team except make a product that is quality, that works and on a reasonable budget. Just like all other parent companies do.

And people who say we don't listen to users are again, completely wrong. We have made many changes and will continue to improve the product based on feedback and other metrics gleaned directly from the community. The one issue that you use to paint all aspects of our development is the unlocks which is not fair. Plus just look at all the incredible work we have done to support ROF after all this time. There is NOTHING in our history as a company or team that suggests we do not listen to users or make changes based on feedback from our users.

Now back onto the proper topic which is what Zak originally posted. News about our future development plans will come when we are ready to announce them. I had hope we would have released the Dserver and ME by now, but that work has slowed due to a serious illness of one of our long time teammates. That is no joke. Life is more than just playing sims.

Just take it over there to that thread. No biggie. I am locking this one.  :salute:
