HagarTheHorrible Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I like the idea of piloting with consequences. Wether in campaign or on-line, if you treat you plane rough and abuse it then consequences will follow. If you fly a plane with little regard for yourself or it then the next time you mount up, the CO may have given you the Sqn duffer or if the plane of choice isn't available then another type that's maybe not first choice. To sum it up, the more you look after your mount the more likely it will perform at it's best, the more likely you are to get a good remount if you crash or die. RoF set out to modify pilot behaviour with the scoring system, possibly not as well as they had initially hoped, I don't know if the modified scoring system had any effect as I haven't played for since the changes.
Cybermat47 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I think that what you're suggesting would be far too complicated for the developers to model in time for the game's release. 1
6./ZG26_Emil Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 You need to rig yourself up to electricity so you get electrocuted when you are shot, like that guy in the documentary about Il2 :D
HagarTheHorrible Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 You need to rig yourself up to electricity so you get electrocuted when you are shot, like that guy in the documentary about Il2 :D Tried it, but have to confess I didn't have the balls to carry on, although that said, now that I've got two children they're superfluous anyway.
Wombat Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 That would be excellent, but I think we will have to wait another 10 years for it. How about if you land on an enemy's air field you have to fly for them next flight.
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I wouldn't mind seeing some variations in performance of equipment: better or worse canopies, engines that make a little more or a little less power, aircraft that need more trim to fly level. I have certainly flown planes of the same type and model that performed better or worse than others. It might be fun to have aircraft engines that are harder to start than others, or maybe where the prop control friction lock is worn.
DD_Squawk Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 It would be interesting if repaired airframes suffered from some aerodynamic penalties. ( ie. speed penalty, roll/yaw tendency, etc.) I've flown a couple of 'bent' birds that were repaired, and while they may look pretty in their fresh paint, they never quite flew the same again. One 6 seater single in particular took some wing and tail damage after being flipped on her back(by someone else). Looks brand spanking new now, but has gained a tendancy to roll to the right. In order to get her to fly straight with 'hands off' requires the ball to be over 3/4s off center to the left.
=LD=Hethwill Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This can be accomplished by design of the on-going BIG scenarios and/or campaigns. Bailing over enemy territory could lead to a lock-up for some time thus being unable to rejoin. Getting shot down & killed would ensure a reset in the on going campaign stats, so absolute stats for the "living" pilot would become critical - also read http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/1451-kill-marks/ Shot down over friendly territory could lead to wounds, resulting also in lock-up time. Etc. Obviously all these triggers can be added in to the Campaign/Mission Editor or even as a full server side daemon to track players ? No idea, but is not impossible to do. 1
