SR-F_Winger Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I experience regular crashes with the message "il2.exe has stopped working". This gets really annoying. Anyone a clue what could be done to avoid that?
No_85_Gramps Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Probably need some more info about your set-up but as a start check to make sure BOS is set to run in admin mode. In the last couple of months I've only had one CDT after a MP mission ended.
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 the same for me too, ever since I went win8.1 nothing but issues with gaming.
Willy__ Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Am I the only who hates the new windows 8/8.1 interface ? Anyways, have you tried updating your graphics card drivers ? Is your windows updated ?
-TBC-AeroAce Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 i had this all the time on windows 7, really strange I did a full re-install of windows because I got a new ssd and then had to install bos fresh and It didnt happen again, this also coincided with an update. I know there are too many variables that im stating (lol not suggesting re-install windows) but maybe BOS, as it worked for me. Ps does is the BOS launcher set to close on exit of the game now as it does for me
SR-F_Winger Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Really strange. I Have BOS on my system SSD installed. Guess ill try and install it on another SSD. Ill look if that helps.
Oktusha Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm running Windows 8.1 pro and have not had a single issue or crash... That isn't saying that another piece of software isn't causing it, but I do know it is not windows 8 doing it...
ShamrockOneFive Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm running Windows 7 and I've seen a couple of CTD with the same error message just recently. Previous to that it never happened. Still haven't figured it out.
BlackDevil Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Since the last update I got CTDs at finish of MP missions.
dburne Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 No problems at all with any of my flight sims on Windows 8.1 on an SSD, absolutely love it. Now I have stopped flying BOS, but when I did I had no problems to speak of. Cliffs of Dover TF 4.3 ROF IL2 1946 HSFX7 DCS
-TBC-AeroAce Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) I was not sugesting its ssd related, I was just explaining what I did and then it worked with no problems which where there before. I think the main things are a new directx and GPU driver install + fresh bos install after that NP at all also the latest update could have done it Edited January 8, 2015 by AeroAce
SR-F_Winger Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 I installed it on a diffrent SSD now. Before i had it on the PCI-E SSD my OS is on. Now i installed it on another one. Just dedicated for that only purpose. Ill report after playing today evening.
SR-F_Winger Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) OK, so installing on another HDD didnt solve the problem. It might have become a little less prone to crash but i experience one or two crashes each time i play. And - how else should it be - always when the bigg action is about to begin:( My System: Copre I7 4820K 16GB Ram Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit Nvidia GeForce 780 TI SLI Revodrive 3 PCI-E 256 GB SSD for the system Samsung 840 Pro SSD for important games Agility 3 128 GB SSD for more important Games:) Samsung 2GB SSD cached HDD for data archive Everything else running without any problems. Ala13_Kike Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 do you have more games under dx9? or nvidia drivers
SR-F_Winger Posted January 13, 2015 Author Posted January 13, 2015 Nope. Mostly higher DX versions i believe.
SR-F_Winger Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 Ill try and run it under compatibility mode for Win 7 today. See if it helps. Yesterday i had a crash again. I already restart the client when a round ends. There doesnt seem to be any connection to the time the game ran. Sometimes happens after 30 minutes, sometimes after 1.5h. Dammit. The game i love plaqued by instability. I feel reminded to the early ROF times. ROF.EXE... The ROFers of you will remember:)
VBF-12_Roozter Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Selecting full screen seemed to have helped my ctd disappear.
IckyATLAS Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 (edited) I have the box "Seed when downloaded" in the preferences checked. I run under 8.1 and have no CTD at all. The Nvidia drivers are latest version and the Win 8.1 is also fully updated. I am in fullscreen mode at 2560 X 1440. Edited January 15, 2015 by IckyATLAS
Zak Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Gentlemen, we don't have any specific info about instability of current version running at win 8,1, so please if you have time report about any performance issues and CTDs to our customer support. They should be able to help, also that should give us data for any optimization if that's needed.
