Oktusha Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I had setup a 8v8 quick mission and once we had taken care of them I was messing around. I found a train and thought sure, why not... At first I thought I was going to have to make another pass so I stopped firing. Sure enough that thing blew right under me... lol... I had recorded it for giggles looking for possible "good" screenshots and it turns out I was a bit closer than I thought I was. Can these types of explosions kill you? I'm thinking if they actually can then I sure lucked out on that one. 5
-TBC-AeroAce Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 They sure bloody can, made the mistake of setting bomb delay to zero before!!! U must have really lucked out, what an epic shot I want it as a wallpaper
Oktusha Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) well I didn't have bombs, just the guns. So I wasn't sure if the explosion alone from the locomotive could kill you or not. I'll upload the full 1920x1080 screen for you tomorrow as I had better hit the racks or my wife is going to kill me... lol... It's 2:46am here right now... Edited January 7, 2015 by Oktusha
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 The train explosions look a bit off to me. There's no fuel that will explode in a steam engine with solid fuel (coal, wood), the big explosions you'll see on gun camera recordings from the war are high pressure steam explosions from the boiler failing. There should be no orange or yellow flame tint to the explosion, it is just water vapour condensating the moment the pressure falls and it hit cold air. I don't know how badly it would damage a plane flying over it. A breaking boiler do not produce a supersonic explosion, so there's shock-wave associated with it. It could throw up metal debris though.

-TBC-AeroAce Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Yeah it does look way over the top, almost like a munitions carriage has been hit. I have heard people talking about a steam effect when u hit the train though
Oktusha Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 yeah, I remember all of the footage as well that was only massive vents of steam. Here ya go Aeroace...
Lusekofte Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Well I feel the effect from bombs are not sufficient. an by that I mean what damage it should do. I understand the less effect in deep snow, but a 250 kg bomb should disable a tank if it lands on the side of a tank. At least the belts Edited January 7, 2015 by LG1.Jaeger

=AVG=Zombie Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Friggin sweet pic! Dig it, too bad it is a 109...
Sokol1 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Can these types of explosions kill you? No, I get more close without "collateral effect". The train explosions look a bit off to me. It is...
-TBC-AeroAce Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Iv got this as desktop, I think It could be worthy of an official website gallery photo or even loading screen. Please put +1 if you agree Thanks 2
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 8, 2015 1CGS Posted January 8, 2015 Perhaps it is over the top a little, but that is pretty much a non-issue for me; I'd much prefer effort was put into the planes/campaign mechanics, or even adding other ground objects etc. rather than toning down this explosion. Working on one feature does not necessarily preclude others on the team from working on other features.

Oktusha Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 lol, thanks Aeroace. I appreciate that buddy.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I have heard people talking about a steam effect when u hit the train though You can see gun-cam steam explosions here, at the 3:17 mark:
-TBC-AeroAce Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) You can see gun-cam steam explosions here, at the 3:17 mark: I didnt mean the real life effect, i know that. Was talking that IN GAME I think iv hear people talking about a steam explosion, hence not the above picture explosion LOL until I downloaded it I didnt see the train Edited January 8, 2015 by AeroAce

Yeah it does look way over the top, almost like a munitions carriage has been hit. I have heard people talking about a steam effect when u hit the train though Yes it is there.. I have seen it when you use guns/cannon Please forget the debate of realism for one sec and give a +1 for this epic picture Yeah that is a great shot..
Potenz Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 If it were just caused buy guns yes.. steam.. but this was a bomb so I'd thiunk that the explosives in the bomb would make the fiery blast yes? the 109 in the screen has no bomb racks, the actual locomotive catastrophic failure is a big ball of fire instead of a blast of steam
Oktusha Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 the 109 in the screen has no bomb racks, the actual locomotive catastrophic failure is a big ball of fire instead of a blast of steam not that I'm very concerned with it myself, however I did not use bombs on that locomotive. So he is correct. Only guns and gun pods...
Sokol1 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 You can see gun-cam steam explosions here, at the 3:17 mark: Boiler hit at ~3:10. ~3:17 the explosion was in the middle of the train composition, more probable ammo or fuel car.
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Boiler hit at ~3:10. ~3:17 the explosion was in the middle of the train composition, more probable ammo or fuel car. You're right. It's hard to find good films of a catastrophic boiler rupture.
