I built a new system today, and I came across a weird problem when I plugged in my VKB Mk.21 pedals - Windows 7 will boot up extremely slowly. I'm talking 3-5 minutes for it to boot up. Once I unplugged the pedals, all was good. I ensured it wasn't any of my other USB devices, the ports on the motherboard, or the USB cable. Any particular reason why this would happen?

That sounds very odd, almost like it is thinking the pedals are a boot device.  Have you tried taking everything out of the boot order besides the hard drive? That way it shouldn't look for anything that is plugged in on the USB ports to boot from, might be a fix?

Also, how did you get  VKB pedals shipped to the US? 3rd Party source?

I have tried removing everything but the drive, but that didn't work. Very weird. It does seem like the computer thinks it's a boot device. I'm going to try a USB hub to see if that makes a difference.

Yep, third party.

Morning Luke.

I have the same issues or similar with me new build. Asus X99 deluxe motherboard. If I have my warthog Hotas and or MFG pedals plugged in during boot up the PC will not boot.

I have search the web for answers with no results. Have to unplug the joystick and pedals with each restart to get into Windows 7 64bit.

I have similar issues with my PC. It has an Asus Z97A MB and BIOS halts if i try to enter it while i have any of my flight gear connected. I've got a CH Throttle, MFG pedals and a Black Mamba stick. Any of these devices will make the BIOS unusable. I had to buy an USB HUB. The HUB doesn't prevent this behaviour but at least it has switches so i can turn individual devices off if needed. Last BIOS update somewhat improved this behaviour but didn't solve it entirely. My previous PC had the same kind of problems with HID devices.

I solved the problem by buying a Rosewill powered USB hub and plugging the pedals directly into that device. Now Windows boots up normally without issues (at least, so far).

Like I said, I think Windows tries to boot from the pedals because of the type of circuit board used in the pedals. Very strange, whatever the case may be.

I did try that, but it didn't work.
