taffy2jeffmorgan Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Hi All. I have just installed 5 new patches in to Cliffs of Dover, the graphics where always rather good, but now they are excellent, and with that in mind i was wondering if a group like Team Fusion will ever take up the challenge and do the same with "Battle of Stalingrad" or could it be a case not being able to because of legalities ? Just a thought ! Cheers. JM.

TF is doing good work though, it's a shame the most impressive stuff usually comes from the community
FlatSpinMan Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 At some point there may be modding. RoF has the facility for Approved Mods. I don't know but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. It's still being made.
Brano Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 To unlock graphics options, get real offline campaign, real medals/awards/promotions,get decals system.... we might need smtg like TF
Feathered_IV Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 BoS doesn't need too much help in stability and graphics issues, which is where TF seems to concentrate. What we need is depth of gameplay, particularly for SP, but Team Fusion do not seem to have and interest in that sort of thing. 2
LizLemon Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Considering that 777 locked down rof pretty hard with regards to modding you probably shouldn't count on it.
Dakpilot Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Considering that 777 locked down rof pretty hard with regards to modding you probably shouldn't count on it. Could you clarify that point a little, apart from adding new Mod aircraft, understandable as that is their financial model, I thought modding in RoF was pretty much encouraged, to the point of having built in Mod activator (Mods on mode) Cheers Dakpilot

Having to go through 777 to add new maps.
Dakpilot Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I would think that an 'encrypted exe' is just a symptom of a continued Dev supported game, and if a map project is good it is supported and encouraged by 777, I don't see that as a bad thing really Cheers Dakpilot
FlatSpinMan Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Preventing access to FMs and DMs and alloinng people to create new maps only by going through official channels in a game that has been officially out for a short time sounds fairly common sense, doesn't it? On a personal note, I'm also keen on standardisation to avoid splitting the number of players between different mods packages. Mods did a lot for IL2 ultimately but I never liked the way it split people up and allthe stuff you need to DL to update, etc. That's just my preference, of course.
Feathered_IV Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Encrypted exe making it difficult to tweak fm/dm models and hard to add new aircraft. Having to go through 777 to add new maps. TF are equally hard on locking this down then I think.
Finkeren Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 TF picked up what was essentially abandonware. BoS still has full support from the devs, so why the need?
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 TF picked up what was essentially abandonware. BoS still has full support from the devs, so why the need? No need, really. Both teams do good work.
FS_Fenice_1965 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Team Fusion's love is Cliffs of Dover. I do not think they will be ever interested on updating this game. 3
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 (edited) TF are equally hard on locking this down then I think. The original development team made those decisions. As I am sure you know, TF is 3rd Party - their ultimate limiter has been the fact that they don't own or have access to CoD's source code. None of the guys on TF (MP included) seem like the type that would suggest "locking down" the engine (assuming they are ever granted access to it) considering they make no financial gain from CoD's sales...
