MudWasp Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Broadband satellite is the best I can do. It beats dial-up but still has issues. Any one use the above to play BOS and how well does it work? I don't expect MP to work due to latency, but what about SP? Does BOS need to communicate to a server in campaign mode to unlock goodies? Would I need to be connected to the internet to fly a SP campaign? If so, how much data is being transfered?
216th_Xenos Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Hi, you need an internet connection for the SP campaign and mulitplayer. You can however still do quick missions offline. Multiplayer obviously requires a fairly good connection, the campaign on the other hand can be played with absolute minimum internet.
Yakdriver Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 no do not use sp online, 777 generates the missions and sends them to you and tracks your results in order to unlock your things. how much - dont know. a guess: less than a Mbit per flight, every 30 minutes?
Juri_JS Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) I have just done a test how much data is transmitted in campaign mode during mission generation and saving the pilots stats and the amount is minimal, just a few kb. Edited January 5, 2015 by Juri_JS
MudWasp Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 That much data is no problem. Dial-up could do that...but would choke on the updates I'm sure of that. Thanks for the info !
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Depending on the Sat you have (hughesnet, wildblue ect) updates are going to kill your bandwidth limit unless you update after midnight when its free. SP you should be fine. I would run a mission or two then check you bandwidth usage.
MudWasp Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 I remember when I switched to satellite this past summer and finally got ROF to update that the total was around 2GB. I've no clue what BOS update size is. Not planning on purchasing BOS anytime soon. I'll wait for improvements to the campaign
