TorqueLink Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) It's been a while since I've done any flight sim games - 4 plus years. I need a new computer since I plan to play IL2 BOS. Here are a few systems I am thinking about. Opinions and suggestions are appreciated. I look forward to getting back into the flight sim community Any former/current sim123 members out there? Dakpilot Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 What you need for BoS is single thread/single core performance and a minimum of 4 cores Check these for results of FX-6300 and equivalents http://www.cpu-world.com/benchmarks/AMD/FX-6300_single.html https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html While AMD are great value for most games they do not perform well in BoS compared to Intel at the moment Cheers Dakpilot
Sokol1 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Between those two options, build the first, but use Nvidia card instead.
Fishbed64 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) I say avoid FX cpu at any cost they just cant hadle BOS,if your on budget buy core i3 4160(you can upgrade to core i5 later) that is probably even better than FX8350 in BOS.In terms of GPU i thing best option is GTX760 or R9 280,i chose Nvidia in your place they have always better drivers for those types of games and lower cpu utilization. I chose something like this MSI B85-G41 PC Mate/ 80$,Core i3 4160/ 125$,MSI or Gigabyte GTX760 220$. Edited January 4, 2015 by Fishbed64 1
