3instein Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I was wondering if anyone knows that if the editor will, or does have, a randomizer included somewhere in it? Will you be able to prepare a scenario with placed units or routes and have a randomized mission? I was thinking along the lines of, say you set up a mission to go from A to B for whatever reason but on the way you maybe meet some resistance, would this have to be scripted or will there be a random chance of meeting the enemy. Will the mission designer know everything that happens in the mission, or will there be a way to set up a good mission with the chance to meet the enemy being randomized? Thanks in advance, Mick.
Dakpilot Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Maybe this will be available for BoS http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=347&t=44102 parts of that being tested here http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12390-operations-server-ongoing-testing/ Cheers Dakpilot
Lusekofte Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 To be able to get more old school IL2 players transferred over to BOS I think the ability to make coop missions is very important. It will also make many SP / offlineplayers happy. AI opponents behave in a Historical way compared to online pilots witch most of the time only look for new ways to get better score. I for one would go coop only if this would happened
Wandalen Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Hope the BOS FMB will be the same as ROF FMB. Pleas don't dumb it down. Just love it when the mission map looks like a web :-) But yes a "randomizer" would de cool. ~S~
Elbows Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'd like to see the RoF FMB carried over - with one addition, a "percentage chance" option for the presence of units (similar to the ARMA III mission editor). Essentially you'd make missions as normal but each unit would have a 1-100% chance of being present. We do this with all of our ARMA missions. In essence it allows me to build a mission for co-op play --- have a generally good idea of what is going to be there. However by adding random percentage of appearance and randomly timed waypoint loops even I - the mission's creator - can enjoy the mission as we play it out. It's a very simple trick and something I think would be very simple to include. 2

Habu Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) A fog of war effect....right? I like that.... No. For exemple, you fly to a point A to B. In B there is opposent with a random percentage to be present. So, one time you can have opposent, and another one nothing. You can modify the waypoint of the Ai in the same way, and also the level of the AI. It's like that in RoF, and it's the same in BoS (according to a french which have access to the BoS ME). It's only a question of time for the mission builder. Edited January 3, 2015 by Habu 2
3instein Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks for the input guys, @Habu, so are you saying that there is a sort of randomizer in the mission editor, so that as you say we can assign a random number percentage to a certain area so that maybe enemy spawn and maybe not? If that is in fact true, brilliant, this surely will lead to many a good mission being made, thanks. Mick.

For exemple : I took a Flight A : I can randomize the fact it spawn on the point A or not. I can randomize the waypoint it use and i can randomize the level of the pilot (novice, normal, expert, ...) I can have two flight : A and B, and i can random about which flight will spawn. Do you have RoF, if yes, i can provide you a simple test with a random spawn. Here is a screen from the RoF editor. You can also have a look on the Mission editor manual from RoF : http://www.777studios.net/ROF_Guides/ROF_Mission_Editor_User_Manual.zip Go to page 130, you'll see the exemple provide by dev. 3instein Posted January 3, 2015 Author Posted January 3, 2015 Thanks Habu. It certainly will get interesting when the editor gets released, heres hoping someone will be able to come up with a way to get a few pilots registered and keep track of them, that and the editor would make me a happy flyer. Mick.
