Update after v1.008 cause launcher to fail, will not even start

Hello today I saw a 112mb update. I let it run but now the SIM wont even launch after I click 'PLAY'. And furthermore you cannot end the "launcher.exe" process when performing "Ctrl+Alt+Delete". It just keeps running forcing me to have to hard boot my machine because it wont let me un-install to do a clean install because the "Program is in Use".
