VA_MonkeyRiot Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 (edited) Hi All, I'm a veteran IL2 1946 pilot but it's my first day playing BOS. So far I'm a fan! Sorry if this has been discussed before but my quick search didn't find anything spelling it out. This issue may (?) be related to the use of force feedback joysticks, but if you experience this problem without FF I'd like to hear from you. When I first noticed my physical FF joystick move forward as I adjusted the pitch trim I was excited, as this reminded me of my limited experience in real planes. However I think I have discovered an unintended consequence of this behavior as illustrated in this picture: This screenshot was taken during the night IL2 ground attack single player mission. I trimmed the plane for level with full engine power (to exaggerate the issue) and then paused the game and without moving or touching any controls I viewed the joystick control settings page. Notice that when the plane is trimmed for level flight in this case it causes significant forward positioning of the joystick. Even though I am perfectly trimmed and in level flight the joystick position is forward from center, out of the range of the deadzone, and into the steepest portion of the sensitivity curve. The controls seem to respond accordingly with no deadzone and with increased movement of control surfaces for a small input. Bottom line: this causes increased difficulty in control and aiming whenever the plane is significantly trimmed, which was especially noticable during this IL2 night mission shooting at ground targets. - If you are using a linear sensitivity curve you may not notice the control sensitivity changing but your deadzone will still be eliminated I'm not sure that the solution to this issue would be simple. However I thought I would at least bring it up to raise awareness. ~MonkeyRiot Edited December 26, 2014 by VA_MonkeyRiot
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I agree, the sensitivity off trim is extremely exaggerated in my opinion. The trim moves to fast and causes pitch wobblein the 109´s and the 190 (don´t fly russian planes so can´t tell there). It really needs to be toned down I believe.
