Question for the team

Hi guys and merry Christmas once more.

After flying here and seeing all the progress and stuff, I really have to know:

Why do you force me to fly like you want instead of how I want to fly?

I want to have 16x speed when flying singleplayer, I want to set the graphics how I like them, not the preset stuff you think looks good. Especially the Bloom! It would make a big difference if I could at least turn it down a bit.

Many guys think the same, if not all.

The old IL2 lived on for so long because we could play it in hundreds of ways. The game gave the platform and we made the best of it.

IL2:BoS could be the best platform ever, but right now you force us to play in a way most people dont want to play.

And its not only the Singleplayer campaign(would be 100x better with 16xspeed) its a lot of things.

Please reconsider your choice and try to let the people play the game however they want to do so.

And btw, D********************************************************************************************s ;)

I really felt like I needed to get this off my chest.

By and all the best

And btw, DONT start a 50page discussion in here, most of you guys are just trolling around and have 0-1 flighthours ;)

You invite disdain

You are not alone in these sentiments. I am certain that more folks agree with you than not. I have taken the stance that it is what it is and there is enough sugar in here to make some great lemonade with the lemons that are present. Looking at it any other way has only served to put a damper on my enjoyment of the sim and deterred me from wanting to fly it so I decided to alter my thinking rather than dwell on what at the moment will not change. That was my approach.. it works for me.

The SP campaign missions I have flown are over such short distances that i find it no bother at all to fly them in real time, including landing and take-off.

So I don't know what the fuss is about, over time compression; 2x is more than enough for me, plus if stuck for time there's the air start option. I never liked the faster time compression in Il-2, watching planes fly like UFOs while hovering a finger over the keyboard to stop it, when something happened. A 'warp'/'next encounter' function is much more useful but again, in BoS, I fine I need neither.

Sixteen X time compression in BoS??? No thanks!!!

+1 for 16x time compression.

I will mostly need it for mission building. Testing user made missions usually takes much more time than building them. With just 2x time compression it will be extremely time consuming.

Don't you think it's better that people have a choice if they want to use it or not? If you don't like it don't use it.

Fair point, provided it doesn't eat into effort spent on things that would be more useful to more people.

Don't worry, no additional effort is needed. 16x time compression is already in the game, but it was disabled and limited to 2x a few month ago.

Surprisingly, the best progress I achieved in campaign was flying it full real.

I started with normal + autopilot + 2x time.

That way I've usually got some 120+ points per succesfull long mission.

Then (rather late unfortunately) I started playing full real using 2x sometimes to get to all those action points.

As in full real you cannot use autopilot, 16x would be a clear suicide - you wouldn't be able to handle your plane at that 'speed'.

The best results I've achieved were about 340 points per mission.

Compare it to 120 and it's clear ;)

Juri that is something that I think may not have been taken into consideration and is a very good point. I have psed this question in the questions for devs thread.. as to whether or not it might be possible for them to include 16x in the mission editor when it is released..

I've taken the liberty to add my own slightly different suggestion below your post in the 'Question for Developers' thread. ;)

Its not about the Campaign itself, of course you can play it without the time compression BUT it makes no sense to me why I have to unlock things OFFLINE, if we could do the campaign in coop or get the points online on the servers, then there wouldn´t be a problem. At least for the campaign.

My friend wanted to fly with me online, he has very limited time, but then he said f*** it  I have to fly offline first..and then he cant even fast forward to do the missions he has no joy of flying them.

So back to my previous  demand: Let us play the game how we´d like to do so. Just like in the old IL2

People who dislike the grind of unlocks and the lack of choices I would believe are limited with their time. People have full time jobs, wife's/girlfriend(s) kids, other activities. So when you have to take 2-4 hrs per plane to unlock stuff, when your lucky to get a few hrs a night once or twice a week to fly, it takes away from the fun and the reason you purchased the sim. Most people in the world live in a free society and are not use to being limited with choices, especially when you paid for something. With that said, anyone buying it recently has no excuse what their getting

Believe me.. just about- any variation of this that you can imagine has been speculated on and asked about.

That was and is my primary issue. Frankly I thought the RoF model was not bad.. just have people buy them .. but perhaps they were also hoping that as people get more involved in the sim they will become more engaged.. I will be on vacation all next week and mambear will be out of town so I intend to get it all finished..

It's nice sometimes when mama bear is away for a short time ;) I'm good for about a week as we've got a heard of critters, 3 cats & 2 dogs and they get needy lol

Hey, maybe they should make 16x time compression an unlock after achieving all of the other things...  :-)

Don't give them any more daft ideas Frey,  sheesh.

I have now killed days playing single player when I wanted to be in multiplayer. If I could unlock online then 16x wouldn't be needed.

Exactly!

I dont want to complain, maybe there is a greater plan we dont get, but I really would like to hear from Zak etc. what this is all about.

Im pretty sure sales will increase if they just open everything up and keep delivering a good product.

Unarguable.  Unfortunately Loft seems to have a different view on "open everything up" :(

Well then he may not complain about sales ;)

The saving grace in all this is that BoS is still a very good product. It is for the most part stable and it can arguably be said that graphically it is unequaled. The FMs and DMs are more than adequate (there are folks who debate FMs in any and every sim) . The unlocks though certainly not what we are used to are not as bad as they are made out to be either.  I have finished the campaign but I still have to unlock more stuff.. I am trying to unlock everything.. The lack of a ME and Dserver is temporary and one of the keys to user created content, which IMO is the lifeblood of any sim and the primary reason that the original IL2 is still to this very day going strong, has already been addressed in the skin templates and the viewer.

Hopefully those who are responsible for the nuts and bolts decisions concerning this sim will learn from the entire brohuha that has come from all this and moving forward, BoS will be allowed to shine and stand on it's own two, very sturdy legs without being hobbled by questionable decisions as far as it's implementation. IMO this sim has everything it needs to be able to carry on the legacy set forth by IL2. It is all in the delivery of the product.
