You need to put them in the correct plane type folders within the ...data\graphics\skins folder (e.g., Stuka skins in the Stuka folder, etc.) - I'm away from my BoS PC so I can't check what the names of those plane type folders are supposed to be, but there should be one of those folders for each type of plane, and all the custom skins for that plane type go in that folder.  Not sure how they handle the preview pictures - in RoF they're separate files in a separate set of folders, but I'm not sure if they're doing that with BoS or if maybe they generate the previews directly from the skin files themselves.

I made a skin for the G-2 and put it into the folder named Bf-109 G-2 but the problem is somewhere else

You have to save them as .dds with a DXT5 compression, otherwise the game can't read it. Also be sure to not exeed the max resolution of 2048x2048 px.

If you're using gimp you need to download the dds file plugin first. The export settings should look like this:

GIMP says 'Cannot compress non power-of-2 sized images. Saved image will not be compressed'

You somehow changed the resolution than. Be sure your skin has the correct resolution once exportet. When uniting your layers into the final skin use right click, "merge visible layers", and "clipped to bottom layer" in order to not chnage the final resolution.

Okay, works fine. GIMP still says that it cannot compress the files, so il-2 also still says that the file is to big 'Too large resource 'graphics\skins\bf109g2\bf109g2test.dds': 22893780 bytes (MAX 8192000) :(

and exported the skin as as .jpg and it has 2048x2048 so that's not the problem

i downloaded the dds-plugin and put the dds.exe into C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins . when i tried to start this .exe it says that libgimp-2.0-0.dll is missing on my pc. is that the problem?

Hello guys,

i have a tip for "skinmakers" in Adobe Photoshop.

A) At first you must download the DDS plugins directly from Nvidia pages

     link: https://developer.nvidia.com/gameworksdownload#?dn=texture-tools-for-adobe-photoshop-8-55

B) Now you must install pluggins to the Photoshop folder.

Usually is (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014) It is better to download and install both files ( 32 bit / 64 bit)
After installation you will see new DDS files in Adobe Photoshop/Plug-ins/File Formats

C) Than run Photoshop, open your PSD file with your skin design and Save as... Choose .dds and again save.
In next window you must choose DXT5 ARGB 8 pbp in first box.
Save it and it is done!

Copy your design skin (now as .dds file) to right folder and it is working

Good luck  :salute:
