No601_Swallow Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) Super Cool Dude, I did a double take. What font did you use for the RAF Letters & numbers? From one of our skinners, Dickie: "A lot of people, myself included, have used August Horvath's fonts, including those for RAF, RCAF, and RCN code letters/serial numbers. The kind on your skin looks the same as the one I used on the Leaning into France skins, standard dimension RAF 8x5x1 letters where 8 units is the height, 5 units the width, with a stroke width of 1 unit. His stuff is great for "standard" lettering, although there's a couple of errors in his late version RCAF numbers. Photo evidence always trumps the standard though, sometimes I have to draw my own if the reference has non-standard stuff... Like pretty much any RAF aircraft during the BoB " Hope this helps. senseispcc Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Never.. in the field... of human history... Quick muck-about (using the free Paint.net, by the way), but doesn't look too bad! The templates make it easy, though! (This is how my squadron started out in IL2, by the way. Yaks for Hurricanes.) There was just after the war a Polish film/movie where the Yak took the role of the Hurricane see the Profile about the Yak-9.
Solmyr Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13725-please-note-skins-posting-update/ Thank you !
Voidhunger Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Is it possible that GIMP screws up the original .psd template when opened? I can tell that there are missing layers or layers with no visible effect at least in the Fw190 and Bf109 F4 template. Here, this is how the F4 template looks like for me when opened with GIMP directly after download. Have a look at the spinner between the two parts of the fuselage (looks like there is a green circle or something). Any ideas, people? But nonetheless- this is probably going to be the winter skin for my squadron: Excellent skin !!! 1
Dakpilot Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Testing and testing again.... Carry on testing the results are looking superb! Cheers Dakpilot

Matze81 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Here are some pictures of skins I made since the templates were released in December. They are all fictional skins, although some have obvious similarities with well known historic ones. I modified them to my liking and used unit insignia, theater markings and colors purely based on the specific look I wanted to achieve and not based on historical facts! There's still fine tuning to be done, which takes quite a while because unfortunately I don't have much time to work on them right now. I know of course that most of the community prefers historical skins, but I hope at least some of you guys might like the pictures anyways! Fw 190: Bf 109: 4

Potenz Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Turkish Fw-190 A3 In the middle of 1942 the RLM issued an export order for FW 190s to be sent to Turkey. Turkey received 72 FW 190 Aa-3 (a for auslandisch - foreign) aircraft between October 1942 and March 1943. The first FW 190 Aa-3 was built in August 1942. The FW 190 Aa-3 received its own Werk Nummer block, 0134 101 - 0134 172 (although it is not known if W.Nr 110, 123, 146 and 148 were handed over). These aircraft were basically FW 190 A-3s, with BMW 801 D-2 engines, and FuG VIIa radios. However, they did not have FuG 25 radios, and had an armament fit of four MG 17s, with the option of installing two MG FF/M cannon in the outer wing position. Matze81 Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 I've been wanting to post of few of the following Fw-190 screenshots for a while now. A small collection with different insignia, camo patterns, kill markings and colors.
Jade_Monkey Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 It would be nice if people shared the skins instead of just showing them. Some of us just dont know or dont have time to learn how to use photoshop
Pilot_Rabbit Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I'm on it I'll upload the skins when I get a moment. Here's a few screens of another one, just for fun. Somebody was bound to do a Hans Von Hammer sooner or later... It may as well be me I'm desperately waiting for the download link!
707shap_Srbin Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Here are some pictures of a historical skin I've been working on: Bf109 F4, 5./JG 53, Hauptmann Kurt Brändle, 1942 For II./JG53, RLM74 Gray-green was applied over standart RLM79 sandyellow.
dingdingchavez Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Did I imagine the ability to preview custom skins in-game before you start a mission or did they patch that out?
Jade_Monkey Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Did I imagine the ability to preview custom skins in-game before you start a mission or did they patch that out? It depends on the mission type. I forgot which one has it, but I think MP and "Mission" are the ones, while Campaign and Quick Mission dont.
Spicysauced Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 I'm desperately waiting for the download link! Me too .. still
Feathered_IV Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I'm desperately waiting for the download link! Oops, sorry! I forgot about that. I'll post it in the skins section over the weekend. 1

Feathered_IV Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 You're very welcome! I've uploaded and posted the link in the F4 skin page. I hope you enjoy it http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13720-bf-109-f4-skins/page-11
Padre* Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Is this thread dead and/or moved elsewhere? I was just looking for feedback on these A-20 skins edited from ICDP's awesome template that I made for the 334th. RAF Bomber command scheme is non-historical, and the RAF Boston Intruder is historical, albeit with squadron codes for the 334th. I'd be quite happy to release the edited psd template file with the extra layers to the community if there is a demand for it. Edited April 12, 2019 by 334th_KMA

You beat me to it In order to reach a broader audience, this is the place to go: Where to provide your work to the community for download? Try this section: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/91-skins-and-templates/ I admit, your skin might be hard to find and not everybody is scanning all those threads in order to find a new skin. Some members therefore post a link to the skin together with some nice screens in the screenshot section. I hope this helps, keep them coming. Edited April 12, 2019 by =RR=ROCKET_KNUT

Thanks @=RR=ROCKET_KNUT This is my first effort at skinning, and we're relatively new in this variant of IL2 having only been here a few months as a squadron, so I appreciate your kind words and your help in pointing me in the right direction.
