HeavyCavalrySgt Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 This morning it was way below freezing and there was a thick layer of frost on the deck. If I have to use the block heater on my truck, it seems like winter has come.
leitmotiv Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Autumn passed and no IL2BoS... Noooooooooooo
6./ZG26_Emil Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Autumn doesn't start here till 22nd Sept :D
Skoots Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Sounds like it's time to move to warmer climates, unless you're into that whole freezing cold thing. Myself, I'll take palm trees and beaches.
=LD=Hethwill Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Maybe leave the windows open during winter while you play BoS to add to immersion then
FlatSpinMan Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Its 29 degrees Celsius here everyday this week, but finally with cooler mornings and nights. I can get a decent sleep at last. Definitely early autumn here, which means...
LLv34_Flanker Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 S! Even living up att the Arctic circle we still have temps above 0'C. Not complaining though, there is enough of dark and cold very soon. Time to put summer car in garage and roll out the rustbucket for winter
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Sounds like it's time to move to warmer climates, unless you're into that whole freezing cold thing. Myself, I'll take palm trees and beaches. I grew up in a place where you could have a Christmas picnic on the beach and get a nasty sunburn. Here.... You'd want a nice Christmas bonfire. It is pretty dry here, so it isn't too big a deal out riding a motorcycle at > -7 degrees, or working with horses at -19... That was a crisp morning! If you get wet, the story changes. I splashed myself accidentally breaking ice off the water trough for the wild horses. It is only a couple hundred yards to the house and it became a bit of a survival issue to get inside and get warmed up again. I'm a volunteer firefighter, and I got frost bite a few winters ago (didn't have BoS that winter either) working on a fire. It was only a few degrees below freezing, but I took off my gloves to wipe my face, but couldn't get them back on again because they were frozen solid. I wound up finishing bare handed. That was a bad night, and ever since then I can't stand to have my hands cold and wet.
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 Today I had to use the pellet stove and am thinking of getting about 4,000 pounds for the rest of the winter. I did not, however, play BoS. Also, to paraphrase Sylvester, I thought I saw a snowflake.
Fifi Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Only 2 seasons here...no winter, no autumn...does this mean they'll never send me the download link?
von_Tom Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Hah, only one season in the UK. Rainy season. Ok sometimes it's warm rain, and sometimes it's cold or frozen rain, but it's all just rain. Hood
Lord_Haw-Haw Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 (edited) Mild autumn here +17°C still able to go out with a short sleeved shirt. Edited September 20, 2013 by Lord_Haw-Haw
II./JG27_Rich Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Here in the Okanagan winters can vary from temps of 32' F to -20 F' like the here Okanagan lake froze over. In the summer temps can get as high as 100' F
Cybermat47 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Maybe leave the windows open during winter while you play BoS to add to immersion then YES! We can market freezing to death as immersion! YOU'RE A GENIUS!
FlatSpinMan Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Heh, I like the little passive-aggressive mentions of not playing BoS yet, even though it is clearly pretty much winter where you are. Cracks me up every time. We sure are in a fairly diverse range of climates, aren't we? Sitting here in shorts, aircon on, having a nice cold beer. If you ever come to Japan, guys, do it in autumn. Perfect weather - blue, blue skies with wisps of high clouds, cool mornings and evenings (about 24 degrees now at 8:30pm) but lovely sunny days of 29/30 degrees. Such a relief after the sweaty, fetid air of summer.

Such a relief after the sweaty, fetid air of summer. It is just good-natured teasing -- I know the 777 guys won't release anything until it is ready to be seen, and I think it was wise of them to give broad release dates like "autumn" and "winter". I'm actually just a little frustrated that my summer seems to be ending already, and I have put very few miles on the bike and done very little flying. I had wanted to take the wife out to San Carlos airport (KSQL because it is near the Oracle HQ -- even the FAA can have a sense of humor) to see the Hiller Museum (http://hillermuseum.localplacement.net/). I love their engine display. I could watch that cutaway Wasp Major run for much longer than she could. They also have some neat WW1 engines, including a sectioned Liberty. Funny to think that engine made 400 HP, pretty much the same as the much smaller/more efficient/more reliable engine in my truck. I also wanted to hop across the Bay and take her to see the USS Hornet. It seems like all carriers smell the same regardless of era.
Mingan Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I like winter. I hate it when at summer I get sweaty even when doing nothing. Also gives excuse to stay inside and not feel bad about it. 3
Bearcat Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I like the changes of season... This fall all I really have to look forward to is BoS since this is going to be a real suck NFL year for me...

HeavyCavalrySgt Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 It snowed in the Sierras yesterday. Chain controls over the passes. Are we sure it is not winter?
Pierre64 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 31°C this afternoon in Biarritz, SW France, Bask coast...
