ST_ami7b5 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Hm.. after last flash updates it feels much better to me too...
reve_etrange Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I dont find anything unexceptable about the yaw response at all speeds iv cared to bother, In fact i feel they may be damped too much............. I think a lot of this is previous game play expectation I agree with you. Previously, damping was slow enough for several oscillations to occur, but now only about 1.5 oscillations (with decreasing displacement) occur (in the Bf-109F4). Maybe the damping was too weak before, but I think it might be too stiff now. It feels a little strange the way the oscillations are completely damped so quickly. I would almost describe it as "scripted," like the aircraft wants to oscillate a bit more but is stopped by an external check. Still, these are just feelings, where we want facts instead. whatever changed on the last 2 ( flash... ) updates turned the feel to a much better one, at least for me. I can now perfectly use any of the Axis or the Yak-1 in dogfights, pulling to the limits, and still not entering the usual wobble that we had before!!! I also certainly agree that it's now much easier to maintain roughly coordinated flight while maneuvering, and to shoot straight while making corrections. In campaign, my effectiveness with triple cannon 109s and the 190 seems significantly better because of it. if someone thinks a plane should have a certain responce pm me ur data on that plane and i have many programs to simulate them in a PRO manner, problem is u wont have the full data required, then we need asumptions.........................go figure sure devs have exact same problem I'm sure they do as well, but if you are able to do some calculations I'd be very interested in the results.
GP* Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 1) We've been over the "is it your stick" (so to speak) issue a thousand times. I'm very happy that people are finding the game more enjoyable with different hardware, but I've tried the game using a CH products stick, a MS FFB 2 stick, and the Warthog. Keep in mind that none of these made a difference for YAW because I've used pedals the whole time, except for one brief stint where I tried the twist function on the FFB 2. Nothing, out of all of those, fixed the incorrect modeling of yaw oscillations until the latest patch. Period. 2) I respect anyone who is educated enough to model these forces mathematically, but the team who designed these FMs are well versed in aerospace engineering as well. And guess what, they changed it. Why? Because it was incorrect to begin with. We know for a fact that this team doesn't change things simply due to whining -- they change it when there is an error. It was wrong before. It is much closer to reality now. My simple Bachelor of Arts degree doesn't support my case, but my hundreds of hours of flying experience do.
ACG_Smokejumper Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Game was fun, now it's more fun!
