ShamrockOneFive Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Fixed now. Thanks to 1CGS support for the help. What did they do for you? I'm seeing exactly the same thing.
SharpeXB Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) What did they do for you? I'm seeing exactly the same thing. Here's the advice I got. One thing is to turn off Full Screen if you're running your monitors native res, you don't need it and that makes this and every other game I tried that with run really well. First some advice BE CAREFUL! If you try the "Clean Launch" read the instructions carefully (Microsoft links on Zaks post) and be sure your boot disc is on hand. I screwed this up the first time and had to call my PC support. Here's from Support: Re-install the game and place it into a folder with shorter path, for instance, "C:\Games\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad" - make sure that all the game files deleted from your HDD -perform a full reinstall of the game. When you reinstall, make sure that all the game files removed. -remove, in the game-folder properties, attribute "read-only" -setup or turn off your security software (antivirus, brandmauer, UAC, SmartScreen, etc.) - make sure that you're logged into Windows as Administrator - open context menu by a right click on game's icon, go to Compatibility settings and choose to Run as Administrator Separately reinstall DirectX, Netframework 3.5 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable from \1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\updater\3rd_party or website Microsoft Note: if you decide to do a clean launch, please, be considerate and careful. Do not modify any services that you're are not familiar with. Details about running services may be found in the Task Manager or in Control Panel -> Administration -> Services. You may also use the standard Backup features offered by Windows. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/5321-faq-about-launcher-and-updating/ Edited January 6, 2015 by SharpeXB
Sokol1 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I supposed this "Clean Launch" mean clean boot (or Clean Windows Startup = without load AV, AS...Facebook, STEAM, ADOBE, COREL, NERO...ect.etc.etc.) http://www.tweaking.com/articles/pages/performing_a_proper_windows_clean_boot_on_xpvista78,1.html
SharpeXB Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 I supposed this "Clean Launch" mean clean boot (or Clean Windows Startup = without load AV, AS...Facebook, STEAM, ADOBE, COREL, NERO...ect.etc.etc.) http://www.tweaking.com/articles/pages/performing_a_proper_windows_clean_boot_on_xpvista78,1.html Yes. Clean boot is it. Be careful to check "hide Microsoft Services" when disabling all the services or your PC won't start and you'll need the boot disc. :-(Unless I know for sure what the service or program is (iTunes Steam etc) I don't disable it. I did the clean boot before re installing BoS. I did not do the other gaming performance tips on Zaks post though. I'm a near total computer dummy. Just FYI ;-) But another tip I've found useful is System Restore. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore Basically if you screw up Windows and you want it back the way it was you can do this. That's how I put my system back in order after messing it up with the mistake doing the clean boot
ShamrockOneFive Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Thanks for posting this SharpeXB. I'll have a look over this. Aside from some of the more exotic stuff like disabling UAC I pretty much do this stuff as a matter of course. I always run with a slimmed down startup as I like to run things pretty tight and years of PC repairs for both myself and family/friends has taught me that the fewer the things running the better for sure. I'm just wondering what leads to these CTD and then what in here helped solve it. Interesting stuff... I will investigate. Thanks!
SharpeXB Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 Another solution recommended by 1CGS and worked for me was to re-install my graphics driver and turn off GeForce experience.
